BUTT-UGLY BOOMERS!

Sure I run at night quite a bit. On the cab model TN, there are such good lights, front, rear and side that I can backhoe at night. On the TN's and 2120 you cannot hit the light switches with any part of your legs but I can see how it would be anoying.

I'm still not convinced the light styles will make that much difference just because they are stacked. Lights need to be on the front of a canopy or just under the ROPS to really be effective for loader work in my opinion.

I'm with Jinman here. Before anyone makes a buying decision based on there lights doing a completely effective job for loader work at night, you oughta try them. I am sure they do a fantastic job when combined with the cab or rops lights like AndyMA has.

It is also pretty likely they are as much a styling issue to keep all the blue models looking alike, and there may be little differences which make them illuminate very differently than say the TN lights.

BTW are these HIDs?

I think the lights and the grill shape mimic the New Holland symbol. What do you think?

I would never let the lights be the deciding factor on buying one brand of tractor or not. I certainly didn't mean to create an impression where light functionality is a major factor. I bought my TC despite the lights! The new versions are improved in functionality, but I think the look of the lights is what is turning off some people.

Personally I want a tractor that works well more than I want one that is stylish looking.

I also have a Kubota B2910 that is a great machine, but after using the TC quite a bit more lately than the B2910, I've really come to dislike the big rectangular hood design and squared off FEL loader arms of the Kubota because it limits visibility in front of the tractor a lot more than the curved sloping hood of the TCs.

And from the drivers seat I can't tell what the front of the tractor looks like, so for all I care the headlights could be arranged in a circle, vertically or horizontally and all I would care about is that they actually WORKED to light the path in front of me. The new stacked NH design may be be as attractive as the old design, but it looks to have a better light dispersal pattern and that is what counts.

Don't know if you were serious or not about changing hoods, but I was down at FTS today because I need oil & filter and I need to get my paper signed for my free knive /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (Monica was also supposed to buy oil & filter from Cross's today so I could get one for my son) but I digress. Franklin had a TC24DA sitting there on the lot. I looked it over for awhile. It was a gear model w/ turfs. I would bet the hoods wouldn't interchange. I noticed a few subtle differences. They've change the whole dash panel and the way the throttle and lights are controlled. Not sure if they actually changed the location or not. I also noticed they changed the way the exhuast pipe is routed. It no longer curves out to the side like mine does. Just little subtle changes. Biggest things I saw where the lights and the seat is now gray instead of black.

I really like the styling of the new Boomers. What I don't like is the name!!!

Couldn't they come up with a more appropriate name...like Modena or Mondial...something like that? Of course, the name would have been borrowed from Ferrari...but isn't a New Holland sort of a Ferrari? Fiat & Ferrari are one company and NH was made in part by Fiat.

Anybody know where the name came from? could it be part of Baby Boomer, perhaps the market the tractor was intended for? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The name Boomer comes from the sound that it makes when you drive it off a cliff. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Remember this picture from a few months ago....?

They are called Boomers because that's the sound they make when breaking the sound barrier!
