Thanks guys. He said he was selling the tractor because he was moving off of his .5 acre lot to a smaller house/land. GP -- yes, 8N sold last winter and we are moving from out in the woods and moving closer to GR.

I will call Barlow's tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Make sure there is no lien against the machine , get proof of payoff .. If its not paid off and you buy it it can be repossessed .

:D Interesting to read theories of why someone would trade or sell a low hours tractor.:D:laughing::cool2: I know a man that has bought/sold/traded 18 transactions of Kubotas in 11 years.:cool2::cool2: Owned some for as low as 6 months and owned some for as long as 3 years. Sold one and a year later bought it back and owns it now and it's over 5 years old and has about 160 hours on it. He doesn't wax the deck or any part of it or hasn't yet, maybe he will start doing that. He does follow the recommended by Kubota service intervals on all of them.:) Almost no warranty claims on any of them. Worst expense repair was a seal on a drive wheel that had failed probably due to mowing in grass to high that wrapped around the wheel and destroyed the seal. $200 repair bill.

Thanks for all of the help, guys. I got tempted and starting looking at JD 1025R's again but I think they are a little out of my price range and the auto-connect deck looks like it has some issues...

So back to Kubotas. I am waiting on a call back from Barlow's and so far it is between buying the used BX1870 or trying to buy a new BX1870. Would you all suggest I try to bump up a model and find a used BX2370? From the specs it looks like there is only a tiny size difference and HP difference. I don't plan on doing much with the PTO that would tax the HP.

23 vs. 18 HP is more than a 25% increase. So I'd say that the HP difference is significant. After drive-train losses, it's about a 30% difference at the PTO.

If you're ever going to put a small brush-hog, snowblower, or a tiller on it, then I'd get that extra grunt. If all you're going to do is mow and do light loader work, then you can save some money and get the BX1870.

Yeah, but that guy was a Loonie, so don't listen to him!😜

And that is how it starts....

If your wallet is lucky, you'll stop at the 2370. If not, well, I ended up with a BX25..... Welcome to the boat!

The loaded Kubota "GRAND Ls" are really nice.

All good info guys, thank you. I have focused on the BX1870 because I think it will meet all of my needs (mowing, some loader work, clearing snow, etc.) and it will be the newest tractor I can buy for the money. I originally wanted a JD 1025R but realized out the door new, or even used, they are out of my budget. My budget is $14k all in and I figured with an $11k tractor that will allow me to buy some implements, add some lights, etc. if needed without making the wife mad.

I am very low hours and newest year sensitive -- maybe even more so than I need to be. I want to keep the tractor for a long time and I figure if one is 5 years old then 5 years of its life may be gone, even if it only has ~200 hours or so. This has been limiting me looking at larger tractors and I am not even sure I need one bigger.

Yes, Kent Power is the place I was going to go with for servicing. They seem to get good reviews. Thanks!
Well maintained tractor hours are far different than "abused" tractor hours. Buy the darn thing.

And that same person swore off buying any more tractors, for a while:)

The Kubota "GRAND Ls" are really nice.
Sounds like mission creep.

OP -
How many hours do you expect to put on it a year? Compared to the EXPECTED life of the tractor?
I think most DIESEL Kubota's, Deere's, and Kioti's can be expected to run a good 4,000 hours

I paid about the same for my M4700 w/ 1400 hrs on it. Put new fronts and some hoses on, but probably less than another 100 hours in 2 years.

These tractors are meant to run in a business. They are not the typical thin plastic big box store item designed to wear out in a couple of years.
