Sure don't sound like the place I bought my tractor, the salesman contacted me for delivery time, and again the tractor's on it's way and he came with it, the salesman was top notch, the mechanics there are another story.

I can understand tractor dealers get drove up, things don't go according to plan, but no phone call, that's just not right at any dealer far as I'm concerned, a common courtesy phone call is paramount to me when I spends $$$$$ for a tractor.

I believe if you haven't taken delivery of the equipment yet then you could always cancel the deal.

As for saying its Massey's fault, I wouldn't bash the brand. To me it's simply the dealer that is poor. If they don't have time to deliver your purchase, how do you think they will treat you when hey have to it up for warranty work etc. I'd pass on the dealer.

I bought a new massey tractor a week ago from a smaller dealer and was told it would be delivered today and they would contact me regarding when it would arrive. Well today came and there was no contact until I initiated it and then was told they can't deliver until Thursday. The reason given was they did not have time to deal with it. I am now nervous having just paid a significant amount of money that I made a bad decision going with massey. I should have listened to the advice here about dealers; however, when I was buying they acted completely different. Could I ask for a refund or am I screwed.

Yup. They're fired.

Staffing issues, somebody should have called and all would be forgiven.

Their lack of professionalism means you should attempt to move on.

I had some issues with an outfit some time ago. Then I found out someone died and my paradigm shifted somewhat. Suddenly my demand for fast service seemed out of line. Sometimes you have to cut people and companies some slack. Did I really just say that?

I am going to throw out the possibility that you just had a miscommunication on the delivery.

Seems possible you though it was going to be delivered on a particular day, just needed confirmation of what time, and they thought they were going to give you a call when it was assembled and ready to be delivered, with a goal of that particular day. Just a thought.

It all comes down to a lack of professionalism. If they can't even pick up the phone to tell you there's a delay, how can you trust them to do anything?

I wouldn't be worried about the tractor, but I would be worried about dealing with that dealer in the future.

I guess when you pay in advance, that sort of gives them the upper hand.

When I bought my tractor I only gave them 10K down, about a third, and rest was paid on delivery. I could have given them less as the dealer wasn't concerned with taking less but I felt a third was fair on my part for a straight cash deal. Although I trusted them, it pays to always be holding the right end of the stick.
