Buyers Remorse

Was the tractor actually there? Was it on the lot? Maybe it had to be delivered from another dealer, then delivered to your dealer. Get it prepped-washed, everything checked over. Either way the dealer is in the wrong, saying one thing and meaning another.
To **** with phone calls, man up and go see the salesman, get his story, then go see manager, get his story. They will be stories and excuses of why it is not at your place.

Right now must be one of the busiest times of the year in the tractor business.

When I sad phone call minimum, I meant the dealer, at a minimum should have communicated with the buyer, letting him know of the delay.

Your 'man up' comment seemingly directed toward the OP comes off as condescending and meant as a personal attack. I'd call that low class in this conversation.

When I was looking for my tractor I was shocked by the lack of interest and enthusiasm most dealers showed. I stopped at a car dealership the other day and someone was at my truck before I could get my feet on the ground. You would think a dealer would be on their best behavior before delivery. It's sad that you had to call to get information on such a big ticket item. Stop or call and find out what is going on. How frustrating. :confused3:

Agree this just could be a misunderstanding.

Remember, we are only hearing one side.

Was the tractor purchased one that was on the lot or showroom floor? Or one they were waiting on.

Was the delivery date confirmed (set in stone), or something along the lines of " we will call you when its ready for delivery, and right now it is looking like Friday...."

Patience is a virtue. If you got a good deal and the delivery isn't exactly right, so what. If he missed another appointment with you or two, then worry. I totally agree, he should have called.

That's one way to sort them out. The dealer that actually acted like he wanted my business got to sell me a tractor while the others didn't get diddly. So far he seems to be following through on the service end too. Time will tell but I can just guess what I would have gotten from the others, likely not so much. If they act like they don't want your business, just keep walking till you find one that does.

I bought a new massey tractor a week ago from a smaller dealer and was told it would be delivered today and they would contact me regarding when it would arrive. Well today came and there was no contact until I initiated it and then was told they can't deliver until Thursday. The reason given was they did not have time to deal with it. I am now nervous having just paid a significant amount of money that I made a bad decision going with massey. I should have listened to the advice here about dealers; however, when I was buying they acted completely different. Could I ask for a refund or am I screwed.
Well, since the OP hasn't been back -
What's a "smaller dealer"?
What's "a significant amount of money" and how was it paid?

As others wrote right now tractor dealers are probably having their busiest time. If the OP is talking about a MASSEY-FERGUSON GC1710 then it might be a small sale to the dealer and if not on the lot when he bought many things could have happened.

The dealer should have called, but contact was made. If the dealer is turning over tractors and implements for an established base of real farmers at real prices he could be real busy making real money.

As LD1 wrote, if the OP didn't get it in writing it could just be a small miscommunication.

I agree:

1. Don't blame Massey . . they had no part in the problem.

2. When you only hear one side of the story the other side always sounds like the " black hat".

3. If they were really nice and eager during the selling process, its unlikely they actually took a negative perspective before it was even delivered.

4. If nothing was confirmed, that means nothing was confirmed.

5. Rather than take it negatively . . . my approach would be to.call the salesman and say "I think you owe me a MF hat, I waited and waited for that shiny red unit and it didn't show up on xx." At that point you'd find out it hadn't been a "set in stone" situation or there was a problem . Also . . unless tje salesman was schefuled tondo the delivering , you can't asdume he even knew it didn't get drlivered on that day. Usually that is handled by the delivery and traing person. And if somethong wasn't ready . . that training and delivery person wouldn't inform the salesperson to potentially the rnd of day becausebthey are out delivering.

Hi,

Things happen sometimes but they definitely could have called for sure. A couple of years ago I bought a very slightly used NH Boomer 29DA from a large dealer a couple hours north of here. This dealer not only sells NH but also Hyundai and Terex and does construction equipment rental, paving and asphalt milling. So I go to the credit union, fill out the wire transfer papers before 3 P.M. Friday afternoon and the tractor is promised for Saturday delivery. Saturday morning comes and goes-no Boomer. Dealer calls and says they didn't get paid even though the money has left my account, it will not be in his till sometime Monday when the computer updates at the Credit Union. Dealer says he needs a fax from the bank that the transfer was successful and he is happy. Driver left Bangor, Maine at 3 A.M. Sunday morning and at 5 A.M there was a Peterbilt 379 with 48' Talbert parked in my driveway with the tractor he had promised would be delivered yesterday. I was and am still very happy with both my dealer and New Holland. If I need a part Monday and it is not on the shelf, it is here at the dealer from the NH/Case parts distribution center next day, regular freight, every single time from both of my NH dealers. I could not ask for a better relationship with both my equipment provider or my two dealers. Very happy!

Brian
