buying 1st first tractor, L4701 or mx5200...or?

My Workmaster with FEL was priced new from the dealer in the mid 20's with FEL. Other implements I bought used off Craigslist. I know that tractors in California are higher than here but dang they are way out there. I didn't get a quote on a MX but they were advertising those around 28K-29K at the time.

It is the same down here in the Florida Panhandle. Craig's List can be your friend if you are careful.

In your area there's also Massey-Fergusen and New Holland dealers. You might want to check them out. Kubotas are well built but there's a premium. C&N is a full price full service dealer. My quote from them included free 50 hour service, and they were going to come get the tractor to do it..from 40 miles away. Nice but I can change fluids myself.

The Land Pride implements are nice but can be expensive. Do you really need a flail instead of a rotary cutter? A rotary the same size will cost half or less. And do you really need hydraulic operated rippers on the box blade? I understand the temptation to buy all the things but the payments will continue long after the thrill of purchase is gone.

You near this guy?
Dave's Tractor, Inc - Home
Branson & Mahindra.
Also LS you can get a 50HP+ tractor with cab for same price as Kubota open station
Look at other brands also. SHOP and test drive first.

Both of these quotes include several features or implements that really inflate the total cost. The nearly $6,000 flail mower has already been mentioned. There's a $3,000 hydraulic box blade on both quotes. A $2,000+ 4-in-1 bucket on the L4701. $950 forks. Nothing wrong with looking at other makes and/or dealers, but I would also suggest using the online "Build my Kubota" tool to get the straight MSRP numbers for the tractor + loader choices, without all the other extras, to see just what kind of deal your sales guy is really presenting you with. There are some dealers who don't "deal" on price, but some kind of a price break is not uncommon (maybe 10-15%).

I also noticed 3 rear remotes w/top and tilt and a 3rd function valve added to the cost of both tractors. Those things can be pricey. It's hard to tell the true cost of the tractor with these things added in, plus all the implement options. You won't go wrong with either tractor. Very nice property by the way...

Motownbrowne, You are in Wisconsin, an mx5200 with loader included for 27K is excellent. very unlikely for that to happen over here.

redman135, I prefer a new tractor, dealer service is important, so is a fresh start.. I don't really want to deal with someone elses used up thing. I usually end up getting screwed. is adding a wider stance possible on an MX? I know going with R4 tires, the total width increases 8 inches, and theyd be able to hold more fluid in them.

ericm979, I don't need a flail instead of a rotary, I can probably take that off, in fact I will, not gonna pay 6 grand for a flail right now. maybe I can straighten up the old rotary we have out here, its been sittin a while, think my brother in law used it last year..Hydraulic rippers would be nice id imagine. I do know that being a tow truck driver, having all the hydraulics you can at your disposal makes the job much easier!

mike69440, red bluff is 4.5 hours from me. that's just too far :(

Grandad4 and desh, you guys mention the options I have included, which you point out the price increases. 3rd function valve and 3 rear hyd remotes.

I don't know how some of yall are getting the price of the tractor WITH loader included. I called other Kubota dealers, say they really cant help me or give me a quote, im out of their servicing area and refer me back to C&N, which makes sense, if I want a Kubota, itll be from them.

I will take time this weekend to go to Massey Ferguson, John Deere and Ill see what they got. what model JD and MF is comparable to what Im looking at? Same for New Holland?

Thanks mates

Yanmar has some dealers near Sacramento about 120 miles away. The YT347/359 are equivalent to the MX series in capability, have more features, innovative iHMT transmission, two rear hydraulic remotes standard, and made in Japan. I was quoted $32k in Virginia for a ROPS YT347 with loader. Worth considering...

Those prices look crazy. A friend of mine just bought an MX 5200 with the loader included for under $27000. They're charging you $10k more than that. Get another quote!!

And I'd agree with the others who are telling you to shop other brands. Just walk around at a few other lots and see what $45k can buy you. My guess is that you can buy a tractor similar to the MX with a cab for that price from another manufacturer.

You need to share the dealer name that sold an MX 5200 w/loader for under $27K. That is a heck of a deal.
