Bull pucky! There is way more than 20% difference between the 2 gassers I drive. Both are 4x4. In normal driving, the 05 Avalanche gets about 16 and the 09 V10 F350SRW gets high single digits.

then you have right from Ford's Website;2012 Ford F-150 | View Full Specification Library | Ford.com
15/21 for the Eco-boost and 12/16 for the 6.2L. The plain jane v-6 gets even better fuel efficiency than the Eco-boost. I've got to say the torque numbers for the Eco-boost make it look like the better hauler too.

Please compare apples to apples and quit growing pumpkins in the mix! Good Lord dude! The man is talking about half ton trucks and he!! No there ain't 20% real world difference in similarly equipped half tons, I don't car what any website claims.

Better recheck your math. Ecoboost is 31% better than the 6.2 liter just in the Ford lineup. Same towing capacity, both "similarly equipped half tons". Plus the ecoboost is cheaper so no need justify.

+1 When you're only getting 10mpg, 15mpg is a 50% improvement!

Then you just agreed with me, basically. If it doesn't cost more it doesn't apply to what I said. No clue why the circle logic. But whatever.

I had no clue to why you would state misinformation and think fuel economy shouldn't be important when shopping for a new truck. I guess what is not important to you is very important to most others. 20 % on a vehicle that uses a lot of fuel is a much larger saving than 20% on a vehicle that gets 50 mpg. Thus the circle logic.

What I said was, If you pay more for a truck just save gas you're likely to never recoup your extra investment. I never said don't shop for mpg. I said buy a truck suited to the job you intend it for, don't go pay extra on something getting 1-2-3 more mpg thinking you're going to save the difference. That's all I ever said about, of course if you can get the truck that does exactly what you want it to and save gas for the same money, by all means go for it. I never said you shouldn't save gas, I just said it's virtually never worth paying more for it expecting to get it back in savings in the course of normal use.;)

This was what I didn't agree with. Sorry for the confusion.

Well I bought my new truck last night. I now know why Chevy doesn't sell a 4-door truck with a regular 6.5' box-nobody buys them.

I had to drive all over to find one like I wanted (the other dealers wouldn't make me a good deal).

I got MOST of what I wanted, the rest was livable and fixable. I got the 3.55 gears instead of the 3.73's. I was really torn on this one, but this was the only truck I could find. I didn't get the back-up camera but I'm gonna go aftermarket and get a combo GPS/camera unit. I don't like the large wheels (19" VERY shiny), but the rest of the truck is awesome.

Pics to follow shortly. This is my first new Ford, the truck so far is awesome and we avg. 19 mpg last night coming home driving 70+ MPH on the freeway. Not bad for a 4x4 4-door truck.
