USTMD - Wow, isn't that the truth. Just about the time I think everything is covered - something new pops up, requiring attention. I have oil, mineral & water rights on my land here.
However, all it means is I can stop somebody from coming in and rooting around. Unless you're into basaltic lava bedrock or volcanic ash - there isn't much here for anyone.
Strange - all the lands around this area were homesteads granted by the federal gov in the 1870's - 1890's for oil exploration. Not a single drill rig has ever been seen in these parts. These lands barely qualify for open range cattle grazing. Normal grazing rate is around 10- 15 acres per beastie.
