Don't want to get to political here but we're seeing the results of what we've elected over the past 3 - 4 decades.
Those who we've elected have appointed the liberal judges that have undermined the very fabric that used to hold our society togther. Baring school prayer was bad enough but then to remove the Pledge of Alligence was the icing on the cake. Both used to be the only exposure many kids got to both religion and patriatism. And both were POSITIVE influences.....
These same politicians have also appointed the liberal school administrators that have now successfully almost dropped our HS'er's out of the top 10 in grade point scores around the world. Even developing nations are producing as many if not more engineers than we. We do have great MBA programs tho..... ( guess who recommends to upper management to move manufacturing overseas, tain't the engineers.....)

Somewhere along the way we decided we valued appearance over substance and voted and purchased that way.
Welcome to a world of our own making.....

Pretty, poetic & philosophic, but the fact remains that we're a paper tiger if we can't even make the steel for a Navy vessel anymore.

Industry may be a thing of the past to us, but to our national security, it's as important as anything.

Our next war will be with China. Even an idiot knows that. Might not be an actual battle, but more of a cold war/trade war thing. In fact, I believe it's already started.
What will we do when everything we need to survive is made in China and we're at war with them?

I believe you are correct. If they beat us economically, it will make the military end of it much easier, or, unnecessary.

I personally don't want prayer in the public school system, If you want your children to have religion in school send them to private school. I am quite sure my values are very different than yours and You would not want my values imposed on your children any more than I want your imposed on mine.

Everyone hear is only looking at such a small picture, This country that country. What does it matter, Do you realize we are at the brink of global disaster. The northern hemisphere Ice cap might melt this year and at best it is 5 years off. Have you any idea what that means. You think storms are bad now, What do you think the environmental impact there will be with temperatures at 130, 150, and 180 degrees will be. Thats not even the worst of it. Think of all the nice new Bacteria that thrives in those conditions. I think it is about time we start living globally instead of country by country. We live on a planet not in a country. People need to open their eyes and see the big picture. Life is going to change for everyone, people are going to starve to death, city's are going to be washed out to sea, and we are going to cook. GOD has nothing to do with this, We did this to ourselves because nobody cares about what is good anyone but themselves. The entire premise of this thread totally disregards Global Economics. Business is done Globally not by country. Nothing is made in any country, only the parts. The sooner everyone realizes the world is more important than your country or your state, town & neighbor the better off we will all be. What does it take for people to open there eyes and see what is right in front of them or do we just not care??

Throw in the mix that there is enough evidence to suggest that the decline of the dollar is deliberate on the part of those who really control the politicians. As the dollar weakens and the savings and asset bases of the middle class erode, the easier it will be to roll the Mexican and American economy together. You Canadians are in their sights also.

:( :( :) Dang there is some living breathing American hero's left in america. What is really sad to see is American service men willing to take a heil of bullets in a war but are afraid to stand up at public meetings and say some of the things that we say on TBN because of fear of consequences and repercussions to their family and friends.(They are not afraid of harm to their own body,"they" will come after your family and many can not allow that to happen so they sit in the corner and complain) That is where we have to demand the truth all day everyday. We have to make them quit spinning those words and tell it like it is cause where its built and how its built really matters!!!!! In more ways than one. see still on thread no hijacking here:) :) :)

I agree. I have heard about the Kioto agreement and what little I know we are going to do most of it. China isn't planning to participate.

Yes we live in a global economy but unless we start think about the good ole USA we will have very little to input into the global ecomony. We have become a nation of takers we have lost or are losing our ability to give. WE NEED JOB HERE. Technology won't feed anyone! Chinese goods are inferior I don't care what you think. America was the greatest power in the world. We didn't lord our power and wealth over others we have given billions maybe even trillion of dollars to help other countries. But we have become lazy we don't want to work any longer. Many of our citizens can't earn a dollar. All they can do is wait until the check comes.

Flame away.

Don

Thats part of the problem. IF your values are not Judeo/Christian, then your's ARE being forced upon me and my children.....
This country provides all of us the freedom to practice whatever religion (or lack thereof) we desire and I agree fully with that but somewhere along the way my (and my childrens) ability to openly practice ours has been infringed and yet the $$$'s I pay into this broken system is still held hostage, supporting values that my religion forbids.....
The solution to send my children to a private school is great but, how's about getting the NEA to allow my tax money (vouchers) to follow.
I don't mean this as a knock against public educators. Their hands are tied and most that I know have to walk a thin line while doing more baby sitting than educating. And that ties it all back into my previous point of that educational facilities are producing less engineers and scientists than even some 3rd world countries, hense lowering our ability to manufacture thusly allowing other countries to attract our manufacturing which leads to the lack of American made products :D

Let me help all of you understand something about teachers, unions, education, etc. Let me be very clear here, too because I'm sick of the blame the average Joe places on the teacher's union:

I mostly hate unions, but the unions do not hire bad teachers, nor do they fire them when they have stayed at a school too long. No sir, that is done by school administration, which I'd like to remind everyone is NON-UNION.

So if you don't like teachers in your local public school, don't blame the teacher's union, blame the school administration, because administraion does the hiring and firing of educators.

Thanks for letting me make that clear.

I said previously,

That statement pretty much indicates that I don't place the fault w/the public educators. Public educators = public teachers.....
I AM placing the fault at the National Teachers Union (NEA). They are supposed to represent teachers but instead are nothing but a self perpetuating lobby bent on maintaining it's own status quo. Most teachers I know personally won't join it as long as it's not mandatory. Thank goodness TN is a right to work state......

re. unions, well, they definitely share in the blame of American manufacturing moving to other country's. Those $20 an hr broom operators and the ridgid rules where only certain people can only do certain jobs (high paying jobs I might add) most definitely add's to the bottom line cost of a product.
Course I would be remiss if I didn't include senior managements golden parachutes, stock options, insider trading and out of site salaries as another MAJOR contributor to the products price.....
It ain't just one thing folks...

Hope I made myself clear here too.....
