Toilet paper became scarce long before anyone posted it on facebook. It is common knowledge we should all keep a two week supply of necessary items but few of us do. Any time something happens that resembles an emergency all the folks that are unprepared start storming the stores and that creates a shortage. The shortage creates the panic and over buying when people find the product they fear is not going to be available.
Facebook may be one avenue for information but if it wasn't there it would be on the phones or some other method of sharing. It's what we have always done.
When this hit I had enough toilet paper to last a couple weeks but the shortages caused me to buy a couple extra packs the first time I saw it on the shelf. I also had plenty of masks including a couple of N95 variety and several boxes of nitrile gloves. We also keep several gallons of bleach and alcohol at all times.
I'm not living in a bunker with two years of MREs but I do believe in keeping some essentials. I like to have a couple weeks worth of canned goods at all times. Mainly due to living in an area threatened with bad weather or hurricanes. Just had my drums filled with diesel for my tractors and generator too.
I don't know if any of us are ready for what MAY happen with this thing. Stories of large meat packing plants shutting down with a third of their staff being infected is a real concern.
And here we are spreading fear and panic buying on the tractor forum. Maybe in times of emergencies we should shut down all the forums.
