HEY JOHNNY,
Hows that heater working? How about some pics of that in our trailer section?
The windows are lexan, all but the front, which is acrylic.Icut them out myself, and picked up a box of self locking gasket at a glass shop Ido have most of my slips,i have other project items on them so im estimating
Ibought my steel last year ,before it went uporiginal invoice says
150ft -1by11/8 th walltube[ frame.mabey 20 ft left over]
60ft 3/4 by 3/4 by 1/8 angle[to mount window gaskets to.]
2 sheets .o65 sheet [4by8]
Ihad a few odds and ends i used also, but not much
346 total but id not use it all lots of shorts left over plus 20 ft
lexan121.25 and acrylic 25
wiring ,toggles, mirrors ,lights were around 100
probably under 100 .035 solid wire and gas/a few 7018 sticks
paint and primer supplys 50 or so took about 2 quarts paint/1quart primer
golf cart roof 10 ;)dollars
gaskets 100 or so
so it was around 800 plus for the cab
if you add the heater and fan it did top 1000

Now ask my wife what it cost :rolleyes::rolleyes:
1000 for all the gismos ,gagdets
1000 for a new mig welder with two tanks of his own
CLARKE metal cutting bandsaw 200
electric bill heating oil for the garageetc 500
loss of husband evenings for almost a year......was worth every penny she will tell ya:D:D:D

Wow! The time it took to build was well worth it! I love the lights, fire suppression system, but I missed the picture of the coat hanger (LOL). Was it tough to upgrade your alternator?

Alan,
Now I gotta check out that Alt. thread too.... I noticed with the heater fan on high I can see some dimming of the work lights. Thanks for the run down on the cab specs. That is certainly a heavy duty piece of work...should handle any bumps and grinds easily. You even made the windows....man...you are WORSE than me :)

Heater is working great, haven't had a chance to test it in anything below about 30 degrees yet, but it seems like it will do the job....gonna have to do the fan mod to get some air on the windshield though.

Posted some pics of my home-made big trailer in the trailer section here:

My Home Built 5th Wheel - TractorByNet.com

It was also a lot of labor.....but, no one made what I wanted....so like you I just HAD to make it. Amazing what happens when you take a pencil and paper and say to yourself....hmmm...I wonder if I could....

Slick, slick, slick. That absolutely rocks!

How hot does it get there in summer, and does removing the back panel and doors cool it enough, or have you thought about AC for summer time?

HI DON,
The roof is the same one thats been on the tractor. Its a golf cart roof .Wouldnt know it now would ya?:D Its light weight ,but strong, isnt a flaw in it,and doesnt rattle like some metal roofed cabs ive used in fork lifts etc.I shaved alot of weight off the cab by using it .If i had to build another i would do the same.
ALAN
Hey DON,
How does that 1830 handle that 60 inch METEOR
?.Ialmost bought one ,but i couldnt pass up the deal i got on the PRONOVOST
Alan
No problems so far I just use WOT and pay attention to my ground speed
If I get into real deep stuff I just take half to three quarter size passes
This thing just amazes me all the time
Regards
DGS

Every one check out Johnnys trailer link,it is awsome!!!
TOM, It does reach the 90s ,ac wouldnt be good ,because the seat spins around and i need to access my back hoe.Ihave the heater fan,and the other fan i can blow on me if tis too much.Besides 6 bolts and i can simply take it off,if its too hot, which i dont think it will be
DON,I didnt know if the weight would be too much,i guess not.Up here in MAINE the METEOR and PRONOVOST seem to be the most popular rear blowers.
Every time i look at my avatar ,i think the 23 looks like the 30/30:)Iplayed again last night ,Ilove what i did to this machine.Iguess im putting the ford plow truck up for sale, ill never plow again

ITS FINALLY DONE:eek::eek::eek:
Holy crap, Alan, that thing is amazing. I haven't been lurking here too much so I missed the build. Just bought 13 acres and now I'm thinking my BX is not going to be big enough, so I'm back to get some inspiration.

Nice work!
