Next step is ya gotta feed them wires through the firewall where all the others go.Unplug that end part, just pay attention which wire went where. It makes it easier to feed through.

....plug it back in on the other side ,before you forget:)
Now under the dash way up in the upper right corner of the firewall you will see this large metal doohickey :)with lots of wires coming out of it .Unplug it its no longer used. The instructions say discard and remove ,but there where steel patches over the screw heads on the engine side of the firewall,so i just left it there.Heres a pic of the device and the non exposed screw heads on the opposite side

the wires you unplugged from that plug in your new harness.
last connection there is a plastic thingy:Din the kit that plugs into your last harness plug it in and find a safe place under the dash and hang it from a ty wrap.It dont have to be on metal or nothing, the directions just doesnt want you to pinch it in the bonnet.

PUT YOUR TRACTOR BACK TOGEATHER YOU HAVE JUST UPGRADED YOUR SYSTEM. I hope ive help aid in the install with an easier description of the directions .SORRY ABOUT THE DOOHICKY AND THINGY AND GISMO:D:D:D
For those of you going a different route,i believe you will need to re wire your tractor a bit..Aregular alternator has all internal components the dynamo didnt. The kit has a 50 amp fuse and holder that replaces the 30 thats there.ALSO that plastic gismo i believe is a rectifier
Myself personally i believe this is a much much easier route. All the bracketts are there, wiring harness and alternator etc.Ijust wish someone had had a thread like this simplifying the directions FOR ME:D:D
So if you see a bright light in the northern sky this winter, its probably not the northern lights, its escavader out blowing snow with every light on on his BOTA:)

Nice job Escavader! The pictures were great and the instruction about making sure the belt was on the new alternator pulley before tightening it up is a must. The belt won't fit by the radiator and the pulley wheel after the alternator is bolted up. When I took the old rectifier off, I put the plastic relay up in there and hung it from the one post that most out of the way. You are right about the instructions being bad....just about useless really. I bought my alternator from a guy on e-bay, but he's not selling them individually anymore, only in lots of ten. My wiring harness cost $75.00 from the dealer, so I think you got a good deal on the entire package. I put a voltmeter on my rig, so now I can watch that new alternator pump juice while I have all the lights I want on. Good project! Dyer, retired

Alan,

I had to cut a bracket off the oil dipstick tube when I put my alternator on (it couldn't attach to the new alternator in the same way it did to the old dynamo.) My dipstick was then rattling around, so I used a large wire tie and pulled it against the manifold heat shield. The heat has not caused problems with the wire tie yet and it's been there all summer. Other posts in the past talked about having to bend the dipstick tube or replace it, but I got away with just rotating it slightly and anchoring it. Did you have to modify your dipstick at all? Alan,
Great job and great pics. It's starting to get colder here so I will wait till spring for that project, but now I have some really good info to go by. Thanks.
