This is my delima, I have a acre yard, and 2 acre field to bush hog, I can get a b2920/w 60" MMM new for $13,ooo.oo, a BX2350/w 4' bush hog,54"mmm with 27hr for 7800.00, or a good deal on a B3030 o5 model with 179 hrs, 54MMM,bush hog Tiller, bush hog post digger, box blade, loader, and fertilizer for 15,000.00, what would the majority do here, it's my first tractor, can't decide weither the extra money for the bigger tractor would benifet me, big range in the prices I found, thanks,

Based on what you have described I can't imagine why you'd need more than the BX. I would however recommend a front end loader. A FEL will double the usefulness of any tractor.

The BX is more than enough tractor for just mowing.

The price for the BX is really good, but the price for the 3030 sounds really good also. I agree, an FEL is a must have almost. You are the one spending the money, how much is your budget? If I were buying and had the money, I'd go for the bigger tractor. Do you need the other implements?

I can't comment on the other two deals, but the B3030 deal sounds really sweet. Are you sure it's a 54" MMM? All they had when I bought mine in Jan. '08 was 60" or 72". I only got the 60" MMM and loader with mine, and (after tax) it was almost $5k more than your deal. And your deal includes all those extras.

And I agree with the others -- you'll really want a FEL with your tractor. No better time to get it than right now.

With 3 acres of property I just cannot see you just cutting grass or brush. Inevitably, jobs will crop up :D where you will really appreciate a larger machine.

I have 2.3 acres & started with a 14 HP riding lawn mower. The tiny tractor had all kinds of power but just was way too light & way too close to the ground which led to alot of wheel spinning. Plus, tasks were slow getting done & I was doing all kinds of hand-bombing. So when I started looking for something bigger I was looking for a 28 to 30HP tractor. Ended up getting a 35 HP tractor which is a little bigger than I really needed but I have never looked back & am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase.

Don't make the same mistake that 80% of people make. GET THE BIGGER TRACTOR right from the start !!

That price, that tractor & all those implements......man I would not hesitate.

Good Luck,

Vic

Ha! I started with 14 acres (2+ of lawn) and only a 19" lawnboy 2 cycle push mower that was buried under a mound of old horse manure in the barn by the departing owner. Used that and that alone for the first season. Great exercise - but lousy for actually getting anything done.

The 3030 will be overkill on 3 acres. BUT - the attachments and the FEL make it a really good package. The actual size is less than it seems now and the capability is very much greater with the 3030. You will spend more on the smaller machines getting the attachments etc. I would just bite the bullet and get the larger machine.

:D35 horses for only 2.30 acres must mean I need around 50 HP for my 2.33 acre spread.:D

I think you underestimated slightly, my math says you have about 53 HP for your 2.33 acre spread (15 + 15 + 23) :)

You guys are both goofy. Once you pass the 2.32 boundary, you have to add an extra 35 hp. 72 hp minimum!

Yep, I got the B3030, all in all it was too good of a deal with the extras, I would have probably just got a new one before I found this good used set-up, but this dealer in Kingsport, kinda P__D me off, I shopped around, numerous dealers, web,and ect, went and talked to him twice, he gave me a price and I showed him my best deal I got, he was very rude, he was like it's that far away, and are you gonna take it back that far for warranty work, thats why he gave you that good deal, he won't ever see you again and have to deal with the tractor, and he pretty much blew me off after that, as I was leaving he said when ya get serious about buyin come back and well see what the owner will do on a price , he might come down a little but not that far and we will stand behind it, what ever, Tractor dealers are 10X worse than car salesmen, we need a MSRP clearly advertised or a company to getthe 5 best prices, but I'm happy now, seeya for now I'm going to tear some dirt upthat don't even need tearing up, thats the good thing about a tractor,:)

cgreenway,

Congratulations on an incredible buy !! You will not be disappointed on the capability of that tractor. Years from now when you reflect back on the jobs you did with that there tractor you will see what a wise decision it was to get something a wee bit bigger.

Happy Tractoring & don't forget the pics !! :D:D

Just my opinion but the BX would do all you are asking. I have a BX23 TBL with all the toys, and have 10 acres of land. I've dug septic lines, replaced drain tiles and dug stumps. FEL is a great tool for so many items, but remember the most important of all-----the BX treads lightly on your finished lawn.

Kubota has 0% financing right now. Why use your $. Buy new and use Kubota's money. Also, read some of the comments and articles on this site about a new tractor. After I bought my B7800 and old farm hand told me to buy what you think you need then go one size bigger since new projects and ideas keep on coming
