Check all the fuses, there's one that will kill the engin, via selenoid.

The reason it started to run weird is the fuel pump did shutdown, not that fuse.

Keep us posted.

I'm not 100% sure but usually the solenoid in the pump is a Normally Open elecrical switch, meaning when the circuit is NO the solenoid shuts off the fuel when it has no voltage. When the circuit is closed...by adding 12 volts the solenoid opens the fuel valve. If it does it again, after you turn the key off, and it still runs, lightly tap on the solenoid on the fuel pump. It should have a single wire going to it (most are self grounded). It could be getting stuck. The solenoid usually clicks when you turn the key on position. You might be able to find it this way.

Good Luck,
Rob

Some of the early BX tractors had a fuel solenoid with three wires with a position for run and one for shutdown. On my BX2230 with the 902 engine it has two wires and the solenoid is energized by a timed relay to shut it down. Notice that Kubota has key stop in some of the manuals you do not the power to run the engine just power to run all the relays and seat switches otherwise you could just go back to pulling a knob to shut them down. But with all the safety switches they had to start using the solenoid for shutdown.

If I don稚 us the right verbiage it is because I have never worked on a diesel engine.
The problem is not a mechanical problem. (engine runs fine no loss in power) it just does not shut down on demand. Located above the 吐uel control block there is a solenoid with linkage to the fuel control block. I suspect that this solenoid has a problem. I can hand actuate the solenoid and the engine shuts down fine. It should not take too much to trouble shoot. Thanks for the help. When the engine did not shut down I kind of panicked. When I complete my diagnosis I will let you know.

That's all the magic there is to it.
Wrong! There is a little more to it...

The attachments are from the BX23 WSM w/the D905 engine, the D902 is similar.

This is a common occurance w/BX's that have electric devices wired into the switched "hot" connector under the seat, i.e. ROPS lights, strobes, 12V aux power etc. Seems this switched hot connector shares the same fuse as the fuel stop solenoid.
Good luck, anythings possible including a bad stop solenoid but I say you've eithe rgot a blown fuse or loose connector. Theres not been many bad solenoids reported here but there have been a great many blown fuses......

Interesting they use 12v to shut it down. Looks like Kubota also uses 12v to keep it running. So if the shut off fuse is blown it goes into a half open half closed state? If there is some sort of spring in there I guess the engine is slowly running out of fuel. I guess there is a timer to then shut off the power to the solenold after the tractor has shut down(key already in the off position). All this because if you lift your butt out of the seat it'll shut down. I'll also guess this is because of the market the B and more so the BX is geared to (SCUT). Much more simple on my L. PTO switch and neutral switch for starting, that's it. I pull a lever to shut down. Once running, the lever is the only thing that'll kill it. :D

Your L is also older. You can bet all of the newer models have even more of the infernal lawyer-friendly/user-unfriendly safety interlock systems.

P.S. My B is a CUT. The only Sub here was the one I ate for lunch :)

Yes, there is a timer in the circuit. Every BX owner can attest to the slight click heard about 10 - 20 sec's after the switch is turned off. Even if the switch was only momentarily turned on the timer gets energized. The "buzzing" sound is the electric fuel pump.
On the D905 engine which is in my BX23 it doesn't require 12v to keep running as evidenced by the fact that it won't shut down if the 12v 20amp fuse that s supplying power to the circuit is blown.

Yep, all these additional weak links are required to get as close to an immediate shutdown of the diesel engine as can be done when a safety switch calls for shutdown.

This happened to me not too long ago after I replaced my battery cover (I think). All the fuses were good and the engine kept running. It turned out something was shorting behind where the key inserts. I could jiggle that and the engine would quit. Then it wouldn't start, then it wouldn't quit, etc. I can't remember exactly how I managed to get it to work, but it has been fine for a couple of months so I kind of forgot about it. It seemed to be the wiring harness behind the key.

Correct, a 1999 model. But the point is the bigger the tractor, the less the safety switches and stuff.
