Tires BX 24- Who actually unloads tires w/BH

I too, wondered why Kubota is concerned about BH plus loaded tires...since tires are off the ground when using BH. I've concluded (duh):D they're concerned during transport...most likely moving too fast on very rough surface, which could really stress tires. Since mine are loaded, I make it a point to transport more slowly with BH attached. I'm thankful for the extra weight...especially with the BH off. I can safely pick up more with the FEL and am a lot more comfortable in "lawnmower" mode...

My dealer set me up with both loaded bar tires and rear wheel weights on my BX23. I also have a set of turf tires, which are on the tractor for the most part. I change to the bars when I am doing a lot of FEL work or in the winter time. I did not put the weights on last winter - not much snow here. I have not seen any problems and no I do not unload the tires. I think that my dealer used washer fluid, IIRC.

Kubota makes the same ridicules statement about unloading the tires when using the backhoe on all of the TLB’s. The only logical reason is the extra weight of the backhoe and loaded tires COULD be a liability issue for them in a roll over if the ROPS were to fail. The tires on my B21 have been loaded for 8 years without any problem. The tires on my L39 have been loaded for 3 years without issue. Loading the tires makes a major difference in stability and traction. Get one of the inexpensive valves for loading a tire and try water during the warm season. It is easily drained if you don’t see the benefits. The only reason I would own a tractor without loaded tires would be weight if I felt it was damaging to my yard and that was my primary use for the tractor.

Is there any real logic in loading the tires on a bx when the Bh and Fel are never removed?

My hope in loading the tires would be to lower the center of gravity as I traverse my hilly, uneven yard. I do not have a mower to add low weight and have been surprised how easy it is to get into an upset situation with the backhoe on trying to jockey into position to pull stumps on even a modest slope I hope that it would also help with snow plowing with a back blade in the winter. I was ready to load the tires a while back when this issue abouut the backhoe was raised before. I guess I'll do it since it beats an upset, and the weight involved (80+ #) per tire is not that great. I can't see how its much different than if I weighed 340 lbs., except it's lower to the ground.

Yes, there is some logic in loading the tires even if the BH and FEL never get removed. The center of gravity of the BX24 is so high that it is very prone to tipping on a slight slope. I have had the pucker factor a few times with mine so far and only have about 34 hours on it. I would believe if the tires were loaded it would prevent this machine from being so tippy, but again running in soft of soggy areas would be a challenge!

My BX23 does fine with unloaded tires.

Likely not. But for a while, I will primarily be using the FEl and the Landscape Rake on the 3pt hitch to windrow rocks and then scoop them up followed by distributing dirt. Once I was finished and wanted to re-attach the BH, I was going to drain the tires and remove the ballast. Does not sound like this will be necessary though.
I tell you this though, I used my tractor for the first time without the 60" MMM installed over the weekend. I could tell the weight of the mower was missing. * It felt more stable with the MMM installed.
I've never had it off so couldn't say .

1*Odd after almost 1100 hours I don't find my BX23 to be tippy prone.
2*At only 34 hours it could be operator inexperience over instability.
In 34 hours you've Hardly had time to climb on one side and off the other let alone having gained a good familiarity with the tractor
3*I would not brand the BX23 as tippy.
!!!!!!!!!!!
Your BX24 may be tippy but my BX23 sure isn't!

Thats my opinion as well, in this case its not much different than a big operator vs a small one. Except the weight is in a better location. I have a B21 also with the tires loaded. I have had the backhoe off once just to prove I could do it. Like MarkV, I probably will never have a tractor thats not loaded except just for lawnmowing.
To each his own, but at 80# a tire I would load it and forget about it.

1*The mower must make a big difference then because I've never gotten into that with my BX23.
I keep the mower on it.
2*I use a Bx1500 with a front blade for snow.
