BX 25 Block Heater revisited....

   / BX 25 Block Heater revisited.... #11
I received part #70000 73274 in the mail today.

The BX 25 is NOT listed in the installation instructions that came with the part. There are probably close to 75 models listed, including the BX 22, BX 23 and BX 2200, but not the BX 25.

I hope this helps. I'm planning to install my heater into my B 2100, tomorrow.

What oil are you using? I have never had any problem with the BX 1500 at even minus temps, but gained notable liveliness at startup using 5w-40 and SUDT.

BINGO!!

I live in MA also and I do NOT need a heater with a correct oil. Heck above -20F use a good group 4/5 and skip the heater. I do nto have time for cords etc.. PLus it is a time / $$$ saver.

Dear sw03,

As you might say..., I'd like to see the raw data on whether or or not it is a time and money saver. I will suggest that it is not as simple as you'd like us believe.
We may not -need- a block heater to start our tractors, but enjoy the peace the of mind, reduced clatter, easy starting and it makes us feel good.
Please leave us simple minded folks to our delusions...

Easy. Money saver is the heater (not needed about $40), cord to the heater (nice 12 awg $50) and a timer ($7) (unless you run it all the time and adds up bigtime on Kw). If not, your time is worth????

So runnning a nice group 4/5 (oil and nothing else) is lower piece of mind that what here? Is that RAW enough?

Last time I was up a little further north in Erroll, NH a guy had a pan of lit charcoal briquets under his oil pan. That's the NH way!

I have one of these block haters for my BX 25. So how much power do they consume?

Hey, we all make typos!!! :D:D

Without doing the whole math thing, you know, kilowatt hours times your power companies rates, etc, let me just say compare it to a similar electric appliance.

If you only use it when it is needed, such as plugging it in for 3-4 hours before use, you won't even notice it on your bill. Run it constantly, for no good reason I can see, and you'd notice a considerable spike.

If they are calling for a load of snow, I plug mine in, but it only takes 4 hours to accomplish its job.

I cannot put my hands on the information at the moment..., but my memory tells me that it is 400 watts.
