Traction BX 25 Differential Lock Pedal

   / BX 25 Differential Lock Pedal #22
I am scratching my head on this one. In 2 wheel with one wheel spinning you are down to 1 driving wheel. The DL at least gives either 2 or four driving wheels.

Or maybe 3. The front diff is free to not lock up.

I use my dif lock for rear wheel burnouts, gets both mains smokin' at the same time and comes in real handy at tractor sideshows.

Ive been known to ride it when I need the locked axle.

That's the same way it works on a JD 2440. The pedal is out of the way so you have to actively want to engage it and keep it engaged.

I always wondered if the way the pedal operates and it's location was deliberately chosen to discourage using the diff-lock and the split brakes at the same time? On the Kubotas I've seen, the diff-lock is located on the right, behind, and out of reach from the brake pedals on the right side. You'd need a 20" long foot to use both at the same time.

It doesn't get much use, but when it does I'm real grateful it's there!

The 2 functions are polar opposites of each other. On the old sixties JD3020 you would click it on with your heel and turn it off by using either brake. I don't understand *WHY* you would ever want to use them together.

"On my BX 25 the DL is located on the left against the rear wall. Very small and you have to engage with the heel. You have to hold it down until no longer needed. Very awkward when engaged in the other recovery actions. If you did this routinely it would become second nature like other functions but it is a recovery mode only when all wheels are stalled or spinning. But as others have said, when you need it it is there. I like the idea of engaging it and then it auto disengages when hitting the brake. I have heard that the later models of the 25D have the brake on the left side, that might make it easier to get used to. I kinda like the brake on the right side, very handy with the F & R pedals there also."

Not so I use it on my b2920 routinely when pulling snow from a building. Gives a light machine the ability to pull quite a bit of snow.
