Kubota BX 2230
I have a BX2230 with 800 hrs. Only problem is with the air cleaner bracket cracking. I have over the years re welded cracks added metal backing and installed gussets. now it is cracking at the factory welds. I believe the root cause is the inherent rough idle of the 3 cylinder engine. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what have they done to eliminate the problem. As always thanks for the expert advice and feedback.

Yes, this is probably the single most common problem with the 2200 and 2230. Mine has been repaired several times and is now cracked again. This time I'm going to rig up a flexible attachment to the hood bracket and just let it vibrate with the engine.

The replacement brkt. is $107.00 at Messicks + shipping. It is just gonna crack again! I'm in the process of tig welding up the cracks and welding on a gusset the front of the bracket. I'll just keep on putting band aids on until I can't anymore. I like your Idea about the hood brkt. That would be a great alternative.

Yes, everyone with the BX2200/2230 will, do not idle, increasing throttle until it runs smoother helps and it is around the point when the loader starts reacting quicker.

Reweld bracket 1-2 times and then replace as it fatigues, I am on the first weld, running until it smoothes out is the best way to help.

Newer tractors integrate the filter housing with the radiator mount and the rubber hose does the flexing.

Zip tie for me works. Cheap and fast. Think I've had to "fix" it about 3 times with 800 hours on the meter.

My BX22 has done the same thing with the bracket. What I don't understand is that I also have a B7300 with the D722 three cylinder engine and it idles way smoother than the D905 in the BX.

Yes, I've done the welding, re-welding, modification route as well. At least five attempts at repair.

Finally, a mount was fabbed to use two large stainless steel hose clamps (the screw kind) to go around the filter and hold it on to the modified bracket. Never a problem since. Most big box stores have the large clamps in their duct area.

Wish there was a photo but you get the idea.

We have a BX2200 bought new in 2003 and a BX2660 bought new in 2008 and by doing as David_Kb7uns recommended have only had one crack in all those years.

I maybe wrong, but I think for some reason that Kubota replaced mine to an engine mount air cleaner bracket on my old bx1500. It was under warranty thought at the time.

Yes, they have tried several fixes and replaced some mounts under warranty. Mine was done also...and it broke, too.

Just keep checking it every once in a while to make sure it is intact. The mount to the engine has a tendency to crack but not as much as where the strap connects to the mount.

Old thread, but thought I would post my solution to this issue. I welded that darn bracket three times. I am not an expert welder so kept thinking it was my welds. The last time it broke was at the factory welds. I just removed the bracket entirely and let the filter hang by the hose. The hose takes up all the vibrations. Has been that way for three years now, with no problems...

I bent the broken ends of mine so they were hook shaped, and used a piece of bicycle inner tube to pull them together. Worked for two years before the rubber broke and needed replaced (today).

Not sure I would like the filter unit hanging only by the hose.

It's a big heavy duty hose, very flexible, and the filter housing with filter is not that heavy. I check the hose for cracks every time I have the hood up. Three years now and no cracks!

Now the other issue with the whole filter system, is that little rubber "mouth" thing that is supposed to allow you to get dirt out of the filter end. That thing is almost $10.00 and lasts less than a year, then it falls apart. I replaced it twice, then just stopped doing it. Doesn't seem to affect anything.
