Not entering the backhoe "can do" or cannot do argument since I am pretty sure there will be a Kubota unit for the BX but I am interested for curiosity sake---what is that little blue tractor in your picture there John Miller III if I might ask /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif ? JRW IV

Well...well...well.. {3 deep subjects...}

Mr. JRW IV... Hi!

I knew it would only be a matter of time before you jumped in here.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

JR, I really don't know what that blue tractor is... I'm assuming it may be a Ford? {I got the picture from the backhoe mfr. website... not my tractor}

Let me give my definition of "backhoeing"... I'm from the old school... being able to rip those stumps out of the ground, digging a house basement, making a man-made pond to swim in, heavy duty construction digging, etc....

Using a BX for those things would be abuse on the tractor and nuts on the operators part...

Now using a backhoe on a BX for trenching purposes, small teeny weeny stumps {busting your chops} in hard to get to places... why yes!

JR, I've been meaning to ask you, do you work for a major airline as an A&P mechanic... and did you go to school in the midwest for A&P, cause it seems like the major A&P is mid USA?

By the way, I don't currently have a backhoe... though it's on my long wish list... but we'll get there eventually... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Jeez, John, I only wanted to know if you were familiar with that blue tractor and I said I was not going to enter the back hoe argument and so I am not!
John, your other question, no--I work for a major manufactuer as an Experimental Mechanic. Also--no--I got my A&P while living in Arizona (Phoenix area). Actualy, right now there is a tremendous demand for A&P's in all areas of expertise from the airlines to FBO's and refitting centers and slowly the pay scale is beginning to reflect that. Bizjet aviation is the wave off the future with the fractional/co-op ownership programs that let small companies buy a piece of a jet--very popular. By the way, I am more than "just a mechanic", I have 4 college degrees, give or take, of various sorts including advanced studies. Right now I am a mechanic because I thought the best way to learn something well enough to teach it is to do it first. Only after I have busted my head and hands with tools in a dark interior of an aircraft could I stand before young people and tell them how to do it with any credibility. J
