And used only 6 gallons of diesel............and two cases of beer

So I guess in the end this thread was started by Jay to boast about his L tractor, and insult anyone else that has the temerity to defend their BX by explaining what jobs they were capable of doing quite easily.
Oh well some people feel the way to make themselves bigger is to tear others down. Others don't feel they need to be bigger, they just work hard with what they have and save a few dollars while they do it.

Good summery.

I think we all know that others that are looking to buy a machine are going to read threads like this. Personally I don't care what anyone thinks about the machine I bought. But I do want that new buyer to have accurate info as to what the machine will do. This is why I started the day in the life thread....I admit I have let it slide but I have not been on the machine much lately (medical issues). My hope with that thread and with comments made by responsible owners showing real abilities of each machine will help that new buyer make an informed decision. If you get people on a forum such as this making statements like:

" can definitely say that the BX is just a hair better than useless when it comes to loader work"

"the BX tractor simply isn't enough machine to adequately perform with one, (a bucket) even as little as the bucket is."

"when you see a loader on a garden tractor, you can tell at a glance that it is primarily for looks, and that it is incapable of doing any real loader tasks. This is pretty much the case for the BX too"

(Quoted so he can't go back and edit those away)

that are outright false I feel that it is the responsibility of owners of the equipment in question that want to take the time and effort to set the record straight, and hopefully back it up with photos, videos and stories on how our machines do in each job. I am critical in the day in the life thread on some issues I have had with the BX....but those are true events and my experience in as truthful manner that I can do. And if you watch those videos you will see that it is a very useful machine.

Hopefully if a new person reads this thread they can get past all the BS and hot air on all persons part (myself included) and find the real truth about the BX....or at least come away knowing that BX owners are very loyal to their machine, and that the machine has earned that loyalty by doing the hard work we call upon it to do.

OUT.

Let alone his boast that he could do it in 1/5th the time?.. and I would do it on much much less fuel cost !!!

Yet another guy with a chip on his shoulder. Bizzare, that someone would be so emotionally involved with something that they simply purchased. I suppose if you are defending your decision, and if it was the right decision for you, then whats the big deal? You're not going to convince me that the machine is more than it is no matter how many nasty names you can think up, because it isn't.

Actually, I originally made my post to help inform those who might be misled by boasting claims of BX users, as I was. Statements like, "I can't believe how much work this little thing can do", or "I know this much I am confident he could not do all the jobs I have completed with my tractor bucket in half time even with his L bucket almost twice the size?", etc. had me expecting a far more capable machine. And yes, I could - not a boast, just simple mechanics/physics.

The BX does what I bought it for well, which is mow grass. I went with the B because it is low - I have to go under branches and such, so it is good for that. However, those who want to do actual 'tractor work' but are limited by size and/or money would be doing themselves a disservice buying a BX, IMHO, as a small-HP B is close in size and weight and cost, but will outperform the BX by almost every measure. OTOH, there are a LOT more used BXs for sale than Bs - for a reason, I suspect. I understand the plight of those that have to make do with what they have, and I'm sorry if you feel insulted by the fact that your little machine can't do what a big machine can, but those are the facts.

Incidentally, I started all of this to perform a service - and as usual, I've been pleasant and non-confrontational. Many of the more intelligent forum members understood adn participated as well, sharing information and learning something. Unfortunately, some of the members here apparently have simian tendencies, and are thus unable to learn, participate, or otherwise interact in a civilized and productive manner. I suppose there are some out there that can't help but get into a shouting match any time somebody has a differing opinion. Reminds me of MSNBC in the morning.

If I may be so bold...

Looks like this thread has run it course... questions asked and answered with plenty of discussion.

Doubt anyone's view has changed.

Thanks to all for a spirited discussion!

Thread is now closed... (Wishful Thinking)

Jay4200, you surely knew that some of your comments would be seen as an insult didn't you? Sorry to insult you, but if you can't make a BX dig a full bucket full in a loose pile of dirt, you need some practice. I'm sure if I had a L sitting in the barn I would also go get it to do dirt work because it would be much faster but I only have one tractor and its a BX.

You say you made the post to inform potential buyers yet you trashed a very popular machine. Maybe there are more BX's for sale because they sell more.

Yeah, let it die. I think he bought an old BX that was "rode hard and put away wet". Instead of admitting he bought some POS, he's coping by trashing all BX's...
