Dumb noob question - on a BX machine, what is the proper way to find the loader "float" position? Manual just shows full forward. Thanks

Yes. Pushing full forward on the down control will put the FEL in float. May have to give it a little more push to get the detent to lock in.

So if I just push full forward won't the loader just lift the tractor front? Is it possible I would have to push full forward, then a slight left forward adjustment? Thanks

Should be two positions on forward. At first stop is power down. Push farther and it goes into float. I should lock into float position and then you will need to pull back to get it out of float. This allows you to put it in float to push without holding the joystick while you operate.

What Dave said, you will go all the way forward until you meet resistance then put past the detent, you will feel it. I usually do it just before the bucket touches down, it won't free fall.

Give it a slap with the palm when in full forward and you will feel it move into float. Don't be afraid to push on it.

Try it first with the engine off to get used to it.

I had ask too since I just kept lifting the front end. Now I just do it quick and the loader doesn't move down much before the float kicks in. Once you find it it'll be real simple and natural.

I had recently bought my BX25D used and figured it had a 'float' mode but had no idea how to engage it --- now I know!!

I'm new to the site having just got my first Kubota and this post is just one of several that I have got some good info off of -- Thanks

There is always a sticker on Kubotas that shows how to operate the loader control -- it has arrows/colors/etc. Might look more like hieroglyphics than actually be helpful....

Float is a nice feature. I use it often in both fwd and reverse for smoothing. I make sure the bucket is on the ground then push forward further on the stick. You can play with the angle of attack of your bucket lip as well. Oh and put a Piranha Tooth bar on to make it an awesome beast!:cool2:

I use float for smoothing up already graded dirt. It would work good for snow plowing if you have any snow to plow. For moving backwards the bucket can be at pretty much any angle and work fine. For moving forward the bucket edge has to be curled slightly up. If the bucket edge touches the ground it digs in and then the tractor rides up on the loader lifting the front wheels off the ground.

True... if going forward you definitely want it level or slightly curled up. In reverse it isn't so sensitive and I often have the 'teeth' pointed down slightly.

Great advice! I spent some time on it last night and now I see how it works - thanks again!

On my 3130 if I push the joystick to the right and give it a slap it gives a controlled dump. Try that one out.
