BX log splitter?

I'm going to show some real ignorance here - - - I know that there are log splitters that can be run off of tractor hydraulics. Is there such an animal that a BX 22 could run?

I need a splitter, but don't want to maintain another seldom-used gasoline engine.

From what I learned from prior discussions here, the limiting thing is the flow rate. 5+/- GPM equates to very long cycle times for the splitting ram ... maybe 30 sec or so. An add-on PTO pump could mostly fix that though.

I have also noted on TBN that a log splitter with its own engine can be had for a very low price. Almost as low as one made for a tractor without the gas engine. It's not like the little gas engine is super high maintenance. Try northern tool for the splitter on the 3ph.

I went through the same debate and went with a 3pt powered by hydraulics of tractor on my L3010 Kubota (7gpm). I don't have the splitter on yet, but i kinda regret that route, as I had to spend a bunch on the valve kit to run the splitter, although I now have rear
hydro for my top link etc. I went with tractor unit as I would rather
hear the diesel than a loud Briggs gas engine. However, when you consider the valves, the gas units are cheaper and it sounds like they run faster. I went with the Ramsplitter, available direct or on eBay and it is a very well made American unit. It did cost less than the Northern Tool, but it has gone up $200 in the past
few months, mainly due to shipping costs. But you get to talk directly to the guy that makes it and he does ship "free."
