Oil & Fuel BX oil change

If you use a K&N HP 1006 filter, the end has a 1" bolt molded to it.

I use a 1" socket with a 6" extension and my ratchet is clear of all side obstructions. The side panels won't need to be touched, let alone the brush guard!

I want to do an oil change on my bx. It has a brush-guard on the front and I can't see how to remove the plastic surrounding the engine without removing the brush-guard. Is removing plastic necessary for an oil change? Does the brush-guard also need to be removed? Any tricks would be appreciated.

U don't have to remove any of this stuff to do an oil change.

I've had mine for almost 7 years and have never removed the covers for any maintenance.

You have never changed the second fuel filter in 7 years?

Well I got it changed and did not remove the panels. The screws holding it on have plastic handles on them, and the brush-guard is held on by standard bolts like the picture above. Removing it wouldn't have been hard, but I wanted to leave them on. This summer I will take it off and give it a good once over - just too cold now.

That is a seious amount of money . 30 bucks for oil/filter & 20 for hydro .....................
Must be a mistake .

Actually, that price has been reported here for most dealer's 50 hours service. That sounds about right.

Learning to do simple fluid and filter changes at home will save hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
