I cracked open the bad filter...there is black slimy stuff in it..
.It looks like someone here mentioned fungus????.

Anyway, I'll replace that rear one again if it happens again, which it might until all that stuff is through the sytem. Hopefully, this will cure it. We're due for a blizzard tomorrow till Thursday...I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thanks again guys....
Could it be deteriorated rubber from the fuel lines instead?

I have the F3 model Mr Funnel and it is slower than I like, ordered it from fourwinds enteprises, model F3NCY listed for $18, but it's been worth whatever I paid for it and I'll put up with it being slow since I usually fill up when I get below 1/2 tank, if I was putting in a lot of fuel at a time like on a large tractor it would really be a pain though.

Harbor Freight (Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices) carries the F3C model and it's on Sale for $14.99. I'm curious how much the next size up (5 GPM) is. I have not found a price online as of yet for the 5GPM model. The Mr. Funnels are also rebranded under the Racor name.

Don

PS: I just checked http://www.fourwinds-ii.com/v2/?c=mrfunnel and they do list price for all the sizes.....
They list 'conductive' and 'non-conductive' models. What would the difference be between the two (besides $$)?

Hmmmm.......from the fourwinds website: Note: The F1C, F3C and F8C (conductive) models can only be shipped to non USA adresses.

Another update: Ran it for an hour last night before it started having problems, changed out that rear filter again and it ran for another 2 hours without an issue. I feel that this is the solution...changing out that filter until the gunk is gone. I am going to buy that Bio Kleen (thanks TBDonnelly!) to help it out. Next up is a Mr Funnel and possibly a Racor filter.

Not sure about the Racor. Like Milkman said, the rear filter takes the brunt of the garbage, and there isn't a lot of room down there to put the Racor in. I think the rear filter is for tank issues, and protects the fuel pump, while the second filter at the engine protects the injector pump from any issues with the fuel pump. To keep this from happening again, I'd need one of those centrifigal Racors between the tank and the pump, but I don't see how you'd mount it and have room to service it.

Who has the racor, what model did you buy and where did you mount it?

Algae is "growing" in your fuel. Algae is a living organism. Get rid of any fuel you have. Remember ithe algae will be in your fuel storage can and will contaminate any fuel you put in it. Kill it now. I have heard that sometimes it is diffucult to stop. Begin treatment now. If you have algae; you have water! read the following post I found;
There has been much discussion and misinformation about algae in diesel fuel.[citation needed] Algae require sunlight to live and grow. As there is no sunlight in a closed fuel tank, no algae can survive there. However, some microbes can survive there, and can feed on the diesel fuel.

These microbes form a colony that lives at the fuel/water interface. They grow quite rapidly in warmer temperatures. They can even grow in cold weather when fuel tank heaters are installed. Parts of the colony can break off and clog the fuel lines and fuel filters.

It is possible to either kill this growth with a biocide treatment, or eliminate the water, a necessary component of microbial life. There are a number of biocides on the market, which must be handled very carefully. If a biocide is used, it must be added every time a tank is refilled until the problem is fully resolved.

Biocides attack the cell wall of microbes resulting in lysis, the death of a cell by bursting. The dead cells then gather on the bottom of the fuel tanks and form a sludge, filter clogging will continue after biocide treatment until the sludge has abated.

Given the right conditions microbes will repopulate the tanks and re-treatment with biocides will then be necessary. With repetitive biocide treatments microbes can then form resistance to a particular brand.[citation needed] Trying another brand may resolve this.

I'd love to have one of those Racor's, but don't know where it could be mounted, maybe with some hose it could be put inside the frame off to one side and nothing says the fuel pump couldn't be relocated, have to look under there again when it warms up. Those small filters are a pain because they plug up with little trash, but the Mr Funnel takes care of that. One thing with the Mr Funnel, I read or heard that the fuel has to be treated after it goes through the Mr Funnel, seems the conditioner gets separated out when the fuel goes through the funnel.
