BX Quality Drop

I think when your outselling your competitor 10 to 1, chances are there are more of a chance of seeing more posts regarding anything. For the most part, the BX series has been a good well priced machine. The problems they have had have been resolved by Kubota, and Kubota took care of all of them free of charge. Our Green dealer is 25 yards from our Orange dealer. The folks walk back and forth, cruise a bit on both, and enter our financing department first. Ease of operation. Great price. More bang for the buck. Once you go Orange, you usually stay with them also. Under 50 horsepower, no one makes a better tractor. I love the fact that Kubota makes all of their own product. They dopn't stick a Mitsubishi engine in their frame, or a Spicer rear end. It's all Orange, and I think that represents a incredible thing all on it's own. They are proud of their product, and they back it up 100%. Go Kubuk Go!! <~~~~~Bleed Orange

I have about 20 hrs on my BX2200. I bought it from a JD/Kub dealer. While I was there doing research (before I bought) I had a chance to talk to one of the shop guys. He had no idea I was there looking at the BX or any other tractor but when I asked him about the new JD X's his comment in a nut shell was "yea they are good tractors but for my money I'd buy a Kubota BX, it is as good or better and it cost less". This coming from a guy that's been working on tractors for many years.

My neighbors JD is always in the shop, my Kubotas have been bullet proof. My neighbor is an engineer, I am a mechanic (and a very good one among other things). Could there be a correlation here? J

Thanks to everyone for the helpful and objective posts. Thanks for yours also, Tres Crowes. Nothing personal, but I've been watching your posts for months and they are entertaining but I don't find them very helpful for doing any real tractor comparisons. Mostly rhetoric, I think.

As I said, the BX design is still the superior one for a tractor this size. I certainly can't use posts aboput problems as my only source of information when comparing models. I'm going to spread out a little and look at New Hollands and maybe even Power-trac for a bit of abstract comparison.
Guess I better register, too.

BX22. 30 hours on it and ZERO issues so far. I'd buy this tractor again even if was a more expensive unit it is - its that good!! Sometimes I think I'm on a tank, it's one tough little tractor.

Wish I could say the same with the Cub Cadet 2000 series Garden Tractor it replaced. That was the most troublesome, poorly engineered product I've owned in a long time.

If the Kubota does have a warranty issue, my dealer, BYRD TRACTOR out of Manassas, VA has a road repair truck. They come to your home or wherever the tractor is and repair it there, and if they can't fix it, will tow it to the shop on their flatbed and return it to you free of charge. You cannot beat that level of service and it gives you confidence to buy the brand from that dealer.

I have no regrets!

I have to keep a dictionary right beside the monitor. I still like ya, Threebirdies. Your reply was informative, and had strong words. The first time you replied to me (when I poked fun at your green mower), I wondered if you were mad at me. But I know you weren't. Those little "smileys" help a lot. There's always going to be fur to smooth on this board, because there are a bunch of people who are doers. Ever go over to build a garage and have a bunch of carpenters, engineers, and handy men show up? I have........a recipe for disgreement if there ever was one. I am an engineer, and I laugh as hard as anyone about engineer jokes, because they are true. Training in a field does not automatically produce experience or common sense. Sometimes experience and common sense won't replace training.

A little off topic, but it seemed right.......anyone help with the top link question?

On the first BX's, the top link geometry was not correct. The first I used the 3pt hitch, the top link bent when I adjusted it. The replacement has always worked fine. Maybe Kubmech could give us a more technical explanation.
