BX Rotary Cutter Dilemma

/ BX Rotary Cutter Dilemma #11
I just purchased a used 48" rotary cutter for my BX2200 and it handles it very well. It weighs approx 340lbs. The only modification I foresee is to lower the hitch pins about 5-6" and turn them inward so that I can get more lift height. At the hitch pins current setting, I can only lift the cutter to about 4-5" of ground clearance. I was able to hook up with the pins facing out with little problem but will turn them in to match the box blade and homemade receiver hitch. The spread from the end of one pin to the end of the other was approx. 32".

TresCrows is correct. My frustration over the cutter was one of my motivations for getting a 2910. Since then, Kubota has made some sort of engineering change to the 3ph and a lot more implements are now available.... People seem to be using 48" cutters with success on a BX. That's probably what I would do now. 42" cutters not likely to be useful if you trade up in tractor size, and they often are more expensive than 48 inchers.....But it never stops. Now that I have essentially cleared all my brush with my 60" cutter, I find I now want a larger cutter to decrease the mowing time on the cleared areas. Which would require a larger tractor .... etc......ad infinitum.

I have a 42" rotary cutter that I bought with my BX 1800. It works very well but I am going to lower the hitch pins so that the deck can be raised higher for transport.
