I have a Curtis Cab on my BX2200 that came with a heater. In order to keep the radiator fan from sucking all the heat out of the cab during the winter they provide you with a nice custom fit rubber mat to cover the screen. The mat has velcro sewed onto it which is fine but the hook side of the velcro was attached to the screen by adhesive tape. Needless to say, the tape peels right off the screen when you go to remove the cover instead of the velcro seperating. For about $8 and an hour's worth of time I installed snaps to hold the whole thing together. The snaps are available at Home Depot and probably many other hardware stores. Here's some pictures.

If you put a rubber cover over the air intake for the radiator, then how does the engine get its cooling air. Even in winter, it will overheat if you block the radiator. I just got the mounting instructions from Curtis for the BX cab, but since I have a BX 22, it looks like it would be too much work to take it off for the summer, but would be a welcome addition for the winter.....

And here's the screen reassembled with the cover attached. BTW, the screen is easy to remove from the housing. Simply bend the tabs. I had to drill holes for the snaps to mount through but you may be able to get snaps with screw backs.

Well, not much of a project I guess but it'll keep that cover from falling off every 2 minutes!

I asked the same question but if you remove the screen housing you will see that there is a screen on the bottom part too. There is also a baffle plate that mounts to the tractor that covers that portion but when they install the cab they remove this plate. The tractor breathes just fine through the bottom part while still allowing the heat to stay in the cab. Believe me, it's GREAT! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You're right about the BX22, though. Don't think it would work out too well with the back hoe. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I also have a Curtis Cab on my BX2200 and did a similar type of set up for the winter mat. I just drilled a couple of holes and used some stainless steel screws and nuts to hold the velcro on to the screen. Now when I take off the winter mat, the velcro stays put with no problem

Soft-sided is $1595 plus $300 for the heater.
