Has anyone out there purchased a soft sided cab for their BX?
Was wondering how it works for winter use (is it hard to see through the plastic windows, does the window fog up, is there enough room, etc.). Which is better, a Syms cab or a Curtis? Any comments would be helpful.

I have a Curtis soft side cab on my BX2200. I have no problems with the plastic windows on the sides or back. I bought a rear window defogger fan from J.C. Whitney that I mounted at the roof line aiming at the windshield and it keeps it and all the windows clear. I have used it in 5 degree temperatures. I am toying with the idea of getting a small heater although I have been comfortable with just the defogger fan.

I have read various posts and emails from people who added heat to their cab by routing some warm air from the radiator.

Larry, thanks for answering. Do you leave the cab on in the summer and remove the doors or do you remove the whole cab for cutting grass? The roof might be nice for shade but does it get too hot inside?

I can't answer about taking the cab off as I just had it put on in November. After digging out my driveway to put in a cement drive in the rain in September I decided to get the Cab. As I already said I like the Cab, it was great this winter. In summer I will probably take off the doors and back plastic window but leave the Cab on for shade. I also have a small 6 inch 12 volt fan to mount for added air circulation.

I too have read posts about routing heat from the system into the cab. Curtis sell a heater for the cab but it is on the expensive side, around $250. JC Whitney has a heater set-up that you can get for around $175. I saw a post for a place called Surplus Center that supposedly has a heater for tractors for around $60. I called and had a catalog mailed out to me but it was not in the cataog. There was a note on the catalog that they are in the process of preparing their 2001 catalog and will mail me one when it comes out. If you are interested, the number is 800-488-3407.
