BX Tire Alternatives?

BX owners have a choice of turf or ag tires from Kubota. Are there any alternatives available out there in Tractor-Land that cut across both needs, like R4s on the larger tractors? Turfs are great at preserving the grass when the tasks are largely mower and lawn maintenance related, but heavy FEL (and other soil-moving) work is better when there is better traction. Yes, you can have a second set of tires or, as my dealer points out, use chains, but a compromise tire would be great for many of us who want to do both types of work interchangably.

What say you "more experienced" tractor buffs out there? TYIA

Go to the ATTACHMENTS look for CARRY ALL and check my Terra Turfs on my B7500.

I saw that previously (just before I bought my own carry-all!) and it got me thinking about this topic. Where do these tires come from and will they work with the rims I already have? (Turfs, in my case)

I have a BX2200 with only a set of bars. I spend more time mowing yards than anything else. The bars will not hurt your lawn unless you are purposely trying to tear up your grass with them. I actually tear up less grass in wet and muddy spots since my tires dont spin and I dont bog down as I did with my last mower with turfs. My dealer does not order BXs to sell with turfs. He says you give up too much traction and use of the machine for no real gain in grass saving. After many hours of me, my wife, and kids mowing and doing all else I firmly agree. I think most others with bars on their machines are of like minds also.

Thanks...I kinda wanted the bars, but the dealer talked me out of them. Guess I'll have to consider having a "heart to heart" with them...<G>

My neighbor and I both own BX2200's. The neighbor has turf tires and I have bar tires. After a summers worth of mowing you can't tell the difference between his yard and mine. The bar tires work great in all conditions. The bar tires also give the BX a Macho look.

The bar tires on the BX used with a modicum of common sense are the way to go on the BX for nearly all uses. J

They are made by Goodyear and came on the tractor. Most the B7500 they sell they use this tire. I'm not sure about the BX line. They do give you a choice of tires from turf to R-4 and I believe ag tires.

Unfortunately, the choice is turf or ag. No R4s are offered for the BX.
