MF GC2300 4x4 (comparable to the BX2230), turf tires (not loaded) w/ blower did last years snow just fine. I do have a set of chains just in case, but never used 'em. I'm in far western NY; we get lake effect snow with heavy drifting. Our snow can be pretty wet. As long as I didn't let it get too deep, (>15" +) it was a great setup.

BX2200, naked turfs, not filled, loader and back blade for snow removal. I bought chains but never bothered to put them on since I didn't need them. My areas are mostly paved but some gravel and grass gets cleared too. My snow removal isn't ideal since the back blade gets overwhelmed when the windrow grows but the tires have never been a factor, and the loader certainly handles the deeper snow with no problems.
I found the bar tires on the BX22 to be a remarkable difference when moving snow last winter over the turfs I had on the BX2200 that preceded it. The BH weight also contributed, but even in normal operation without the 'hoe, I find the bar tires a lot more sure-footed without being hard on the ground.
ZackaryMac- THis might help you and felling you are not alone. My old deere 455 was 2wd and had ballast.
So far after 1.7 years my BX22 has done the same work but I need 4x4 with the BX without ballast. There is nothing the BX can do over my old 455 in terms of FEL work. Now the BX might do it faster but both get it done.
I know the ballast maks a HUGE differance here. If you are blading you need weight for traction and/or some heavy chains. I would go with weight first. chains are no good it your rear tires are "up in the air."
