BX-Wheels will not spin-Normal?

As others have suggested, try this again with the engine at PTO speed or slightly higher. This should make a big difference. I'm a little puzzled by the engine not bogging down if you depress the HST peddle. On my L3010 it will slow the engine right down. Maybe the design of the HST is different on the BX machines. Can you other BX owners comment on whether your engine will bog down or not.

My dealer finally called back. He wanted to test another BX1500 to see how it acted. He took one with 250hrs hooked it up to a big old heavy tractor and used the 1500 to pull it into the shop. He said if he tried to go too fast, the wheels would spin-or the engine would bog down. This was true at anything 1/2 throttle or higher. He thinks there is a valve in the HST set wrong, defective, or with a chunk of something in it allowing a pressure bleed off. "Bring her back, and we'll fix it". I'll post an update when we find out what is found.

If I have my BX23 in high range going up hill or pushing/pulling a load, the engine will not bog, forward motion will just stop, no spinning or anything, it just stops moving.
In low range and at least half throttle the tires will spin before it either bogs or stops moving. My land is basically on the side of a hill so my BX doesnt see high range at all.
Actually, I have yet to hear the engine "bog". The tires either turn or they dont. The engine RPMs stay roughly the same.
This is my first HST tractor, my last one was a much bigger (3130) GST. It would bog in the higher gears but with some throttle would spin the tires easily in the lower ones.
It seems that with the HST, you just set the throttle as high as youre comfortable with and use the pedal to regulate how fast you need to move.

I think Ill go out and play with the BX today to see if I detect any "bogging" in the engine. I dont think mine bogs that much, maybe a little, it just stops spinning the tires.

I have bogged my BX23's engine down when digging into a pile of dirt in Hi range too many times. It's my reminder to shift back into low range when digging. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I've also spun the wheels on many occasions, especially in wet grass or loose dirt and especially in mud. When in mud if the wheel lock doesn't get me out then I go into 4wd.
I've rarely spun or bogged down in low range, it just tractors on /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sounds like your dealer has a good handle on it.

My old BX2200 was exactly the opposite. With bar tires in 4WD low range I pulled out a few old stumps with a strap hooked to the tung. Either the stumps would pop out, or all four tires would spin (using the diff lock). This was on hard clay with pretty good traction, and the FEL on the front. She did grunt and make a little smoke, as you would expect. My B7610 is the same way. ALL the power goes to the ground.

Are you all saying that the engine bogs down, as in the RPMs drop off to the point that it sounds like it may quit running? Or are you saying the whole tractor bogs down in that it stops moving?
I thought the HST supposedly keeps the engine from bogging sorta like an automatic tranny in a car (I know that internally they are nothing alike).

KillerB: Your description is what I would expect out of a tractor whether it be 5 hp or 500. The engine should have a good "hook-up" to the wheels: either the load move, the tires slip, or the engine is drastically slowed down. My engine runs almost full speed, tires don't spin, load doesn't move.
I think that only 2 of the above 3 things should happen at once. If all three are true, there is a problem.
