BX1500 being discontinued for next year?

I was at a local dealer today and asked about the BX1500. He said that Kubota was discontinuing the 1500 and it would not be available next year. Has anyone else heard of this?

Ah, I see it now. I really have my heart set on one of these because of the price difference between it and the 1830/2230. Also, even the 1500 could be considered overkill for the size of my yard (1/2 acre). I was going to try to wait until next spring but if they are doing away with the 1500 I may have to go ahead and pull the trigger. Plus I don't want to miss out on the 0% financing in case they don't offer it next year.

Will it be replaced by a similar upgrade or eliminated altogether? If they're coming out with a BX1530, it could be worth the wait. If the 2 cylinder 15 hp line is completely eliminated, there will probably be some others who share your disappointment. I wonder if they just didn't sell enough of them to justify keeping the line open. Maybe they're putting something beefier at the top end of their garden tractor line that they think will sell better. Neil Messick, if you see this, what's the scoop?

I have a 1/2 acre lot too and I have a BX23 - so "overkill" really depends on what you are going to do with it. I don't have a mower on my BX and what grass is left I just use a push mower. Frankly I think pretty much anything in the BX line is overkill for mowing a 1/2 acre. A smaller tractor would do just fine if you need to have a tractor. Then again if you just "want " one then the BX1500 is probably a better fit than the BX1830/2230. Plus the BX1500 gives you a better range of implement options if you wanted to add on than anything that is one step down. My guess as to why they are discontinuing is because they just don't have the sales to justify it. Reports of BX1500's are pretty infrequent here on TBN if that is any indication of it's overall popularity.

there was another rumor but I can't get my dealer to talk about it. Something about the Bx.

The dealer I talked to said that with the GR series garden tractor being about $1000 less than the BX1500 they were selling more of them than the 1500. My guess is that Kubota and the dealers are making more profit on the GR line and the 1500 is eating up some of the sales on the GR's.

Check out the "I wish" thread. The rumors that I have seen were that there is a BX24 model coming out. Supposedly this will have a new engine and a curved backhoe boom. I have seen other rumors here on TBN about the new BX having industrial tires available and having and 10" front rim instead of the current 8". Note to Kubota if you read this forums - please please please put a quick disconnect on the FEL. While you are at it put a quick connect on the backhoe bucket ( you could use the one from the K008-3).

i love my bx1500. it's perfect for my 2 1/4 yard. for me and for what i use it for it has plenty of power. was looking at the bx23 but diden't see a need for a bh. coulden't justify the extra 5,000.00.
