I had been using the FEL to remove snow on my 200+ foot asphalt driveway. It worked, but when the FEL was in the float position I'd loose steering when pushing a a lot of snow. After seeing some of the other plows that had modified, I figured it was time to build one myself. I started with the plow from an old riding mower that got replaced by the BX. I had everything except a few nuts, bolts and some paint so it cost almost nothing to build.
Pic 1 is the mount on the tractor. I got lucky and the width of the mounting holes matched the tractor perfectly. I used some 2 X 2 X 1/4 angle behind the plow mount to add some support to the bottom of the mount. While I was at it, I added some hooks to chain it to the trailer when I transport the tractor.
Pic 2. The plow was originally 42" wide. I extended both sides about 10" using some pieces I cut from a 50 gal water heater that I recently replaced. The curve and thickness was almost an exact match to the original plow. I added a piece of 1 1/2" square tube near the bottom, and some 3/4" pipe at the top for additional strength.
Pic 3. One pin on the bottom attaches it to the tractor. Pic 4. A second pin connects the cable to the FEL to lift the plow. I used a clamp that is used to attach stuff to steel beams as the anchor point on the FEL. A 1/2" bolt slides in and is pinned in place. With just two pins to pull I can quickly remove the plow if I need to use the FEL.
