I had been using the FEL to remove snow on my 200+ foot asphalt driveway. It worked, but when the FEL was in the float position I'd loose steering when pushing a a lot of snow. After seeing some of the other plows that had modified, I figured it was time to build one myself. I started with the plow from an old riding mower that got replaced by the BX. I had everything except a few nuts, bolts and some paint so it cost almost nothing to build.

Pic 1 is the mount on the tractor. I got lucky and the width of the mounting holes matched the tractor perfectly. I used some 2 X 2 X 1/4 angle behind the plow mount to add some support to the bottom of the mount. While I was at it, I added some hooks to chain it to the trailer when I transport the tractor.

Pic 2. The plow was originally 42" wide. I extended both sides about 10" using some pieces I cut from a 50 gal water heater that I recently replaced. The curve and thickness was almost an exact match to the original plow. I added a piece of 1 1/2" square tube near the bottom, and some 3/4" pipe at the top for additional strength.

Pic 3. One pin on the bottom attaches it to the tractor. Pic 4. A second pin connects the cable to the FEL to lift the plow. I used a clamp that is used to attach stuff to steel beams as the anchor point on the FEL. A 1/2" bolt slides in and is pinned in place. With just two pins to pull I can quickly remove the plow if I need to use the FEL.

Pics 5 through 8. Straight shot, angled, side view, and a view from the seat. Right now I have to manually change the angle, but that may change in the future. Now all I need is some snow to see if it works.

You picked a good spot to mount it as it is low which will help to keep the front end of the tractor down.
I just took a unit home to clean my driveway and the rear is definitely to heavy to push snow with the loader in float as it rears up on the back wheels virtually as quick as it starts pushing hard although it was a wet snow of about six inches.

Hey TK,

That is a GREAT idea! Now just be carefull when you are getting close to the garage door... I could see myself putting the bucket through the garage door as I was watching the snow blade!

Carry on,
Phill

It's not the garage door I have to watch out for, it's the door to the shed I store the tractor in. I only have a little over an inch on either side of the plow when going through the door.

I built a plow for my BX2660 from an old Meyers that came off an F150. Made a plate to bolt to the front of the tractor and modified the A frame. I replaced the skin with 1/4 " HDPE plastic. I use the FEL to lift it and the bucket cylinder hydraulics to swing it. Works awesome. One pin, hook up the lift chain and 2 quick connect hoses and it's ready to go.

thats a nifty idea, but aren't you concerned ab out the lack of view to see all around the plow ? If plowing in the dark and the tractor headlights is blocked by plow and rops light blocked by the fel ?

I don't plow much at night, but if I need to, I have a couple of cheap magnetic lights like this one I can stick on the bucket to shed a little light on the subject.

Visibility has not been an issue. I run the bucket high enough so I can look over the top of the plow and under the bucket. Lights also work just fine.
