One BX1500 for $5,250 isn't that bad of an idea, honestly. It is the second BX1500 that starts making it look a little flashy.LBrown59 said:Why is it had I spent $15000 on a JDx700 to go with my BX 23 It would have been deemed a sound decision but my choosing a BX1500 is looked upon as a bad idea.
And the difference is that for the $13,000 invested in TWO IDENTICAL tractors that are themselves exceedingly similar to the BX23, that equates to one EXTREMELY WICKED JDx700 with 4WD, 4WS, 60" deck, and a few bucks left over for attachments, like a front blade. Give up the front blade, and you're sitting in the top-of-the-line 4WS 24 HP Diesel model.
Point is that this (the JDx700) is an AMAZING lawn mowing machine with solid ZTR-like maneuverability AND the ability to run your coveted front blade and tiller (since it has a 3 point hitch nearly identical to the BX1500). You are giving up the ability to add a FEL, but you already have that in the BX23.
So I say that absolutely YES, the discussion would be quite different if you had an amazing GROUND MOVING machine in the BX23 and an amazing LAWN MOWING machine in any of the 4WS/4WD models of the JDx700 line. AND you'd have the bonus of a much larger deck (60" vs. 48")
The entire BX line is an exceptional SUB-COMPACT TRACTOR, but nowhere in it's title are the words "Lawn", or "Mower". The JDx700 serves a different purpose...it is clearly listed as a "Select Series Riding Mower" that just so happens to have a great many additional capabilities.
All that said, having two BX machines is great and wonderful. The OP got a great deal...checked yesterday and my dealership has the same machine tagged at $9,250. Didn't mean to rain on his parade. This is just a very expensive discussion to have for the convenience of not swapping implements. That was my only real point.
