Why is it had I spent $15000 on a JDx700 to go with my BX 23 It would have been deemed a sound decision but my choosing a BX1500 is looked upon as a bad idea.
One BX1500 for $5,250 isn't that bad of an idea, honestly. It is the second BX1500 that starts making it look a little flashy.

And the difference is that for the $13,000 invested in TWO IDENTICAL tractors that are themselves exceedingly similar to the BX23, that equates to one EXTREMELY WICKED JDx700 with 4WD, 4WS, 60" deck, and a few bucks left over for attachments, like a front blade. Give up the front blade, and you're sitting in the top-of-the-line 4WS 24 HP Diesel model.

Point is that this (the JDx700) is an AMAZING lawn mowing machine with solid ZTR-like maneuverability AND the ability to run your coveted front blade and tiller (since it has a 3 point hitch nearly identical to the BX1500). You are giving up the ability to add a FEL, but you already have that in the BX23.

So I say that absolutely YES, the discussion would be quite different if you had an amazing GROUND MOVING machine in the BX23 and an amazing LAWN MOWING machine in any of the 4WS/4WD models of the JDx700 line. AND you'd have the bonus of a much larger deck (60" vs. 48")

The entire BX line is an exceptional SUB-COMPACT TRACTOR, but nowhere in it's title are the words "Lawn", or "Mower". The JDx700 serves a different purpose...it is clearly listed as a "Select Series Riding Mower" that just so happens to have a great many additional capabilities.

All that said, having two BX machines is great and wonderful. The OP got a great deal...checked yesterday and my dealership has the same machine tagged at $9,250. Didn't mean to rain on his parade. This is just a very expensive discussion to have for the convenience of not swapping implements. That was my only real point.

1*The BX can mow lawns VERY well, but if you want a LAWN MOWER, a BX tractor is not the best machine for the job.
2*but I totally agree (now) that a LAWN MOWER has a place in the garage, even if someone owns a BX.

.
1*Both my BX23 and BX1500 mow as good or better than every Garden tractor and lawn tractor I've owned.
I have a 2005 CC GT2554 Garden Tractor and can't see any difference between them as far as mowing goes.
So what makes the others better to mow with?
Ya got me on this one.
My BX1500 will do everything I've ever done with a garden tractor and more.
2*As for me The BX1500 At $7750.00 for mowing was a lot better choice than an $8000 to $15000 garden tractor.

During todays seat time I used these 6 implements
tiller ,front blade ,FEEL ,MMM ,Back Hoe and a Drag smoothing up ruts.I needed the 3 point to lift the drag at the end of each pass so I could turn around and go the other way.
Didn't miss changing attachments 6 times in one day a bit!

Nobody's saying that you can't do what you want to with your money. Do what ever you please. Most people don't have the luxury of affording 3 tractors in the same class. Only 2 of you are so averse to changing implements; most people find it not that difficult. Do what you want with your money, but when you start recommending this notion to newbies, I, for one, am going to tell them what utterly bad advice that is.

Your thoughts about multiple tractors is consistant with your thoughts on the strength superiority of mobile homes over stick built homes and your deck built with 2 x 4 joists which you say is stronger than decks with 2 x 10 or 12 joists. Believe all that if you want. Fine. When you start trying to recommend to newbies that they should consider buying multiples of the same tractor to avoid implement changes-I am going to give them the list of all the other things you believe and claim too. A few may feel that is disrespectful to you. I think it's just pointing out the facts. It allows newbies to see the way your thinking works in general. It helps them see very clearly how bad this advice of your is.

Lee, part of it is the way you seem to brag about it and try to make it seem like it is such a brilliant idea. You know if you were to take a different tack about it, you could be much better received. For example, if you were to say, "I know that I am way out of the mainstream here, and that most others will not agree with my logic, but I have been financially blessed to the point that I have been able to buy several tractors, each with different implements, which allows me to concentrate on the task I choose without changing implements. I know this would be financially unfeisable for a majority of members, and I have a wonderful wife who accepts my eccentricities and indulges my expenditures," members would not react the way they do. They would likely say, "Wow, you lucky guy. Great for you." It's all in the way you say things.

Could it be laziness, lack of skill, experience, knowledge, strength,or common sense? How inexpensive is a quick-hitch? It only takes a matter of seconds to switch from one implement to another using a rear alpha type hitch. And a drive in loader only takes minutes to install and take off. Most owners of one tractor with many imlements who know what they are doing can swap implements quickly, easily. Sometimes someone in particulars logic defies common sense but there are many reasons why. it is like picking on the handicapped giving ol Lee a hard time.

Lee,
I have no issue at all with the number of tractors you have. More power to you. I'd think it would be great if you got three more. Some others here have problems with envy and try to put you down due to their own issues.

The only problem I see with having two identical tractors, is that neither can do anything the other can't do. If you need just a little more power, weight or lift capability for a task, tractor B will be no more help than tractor A. I'm aware you've still got the BX24 but, to your point, that may be tied up with the hoe or something else and it might be inconvenient to free it up to do something you'd planned for the BX1500.

In your shoes, I think I would've looked for something like a BX2230 or a small B-series instead of a second BX1500. Something that could handle most of the same implements but which had a little something extra should you need it. Still, you got a good deal on the last 1500 and you knew full well it would do everything you wanted, so where's the harm? I know the feeling. There have been many times when I'd liked to have cloned my B7610 or L4300.

I fully appreciate the time that can be wasted swapping implements. The bigger you go, the worse it gets. Quick hitches and Pat's EZ-thing are nice but have drawbacks of their own. If you're a one-man show and got lots to do in a limited time window, three reliable tractors on hand and hitched to the three implements you need is a recipe for getting a lot done quickly. And, if you've got a helper, multiple tractors are even better. There are certainly worse ways to spend money.
