BX22 vs BX23

What can you expect from a company that can't determine the correct amount of engine oil that goes into the crankcase of the BX engine that they manufacture. If they can't figure out the correct amount of oil and publish it in the owners manual, how could they correctly calculate engine horsepower.

Hi Junkman,
I don't know but I have had honda ,and kawasaki products and they can't calulate the right oil amounts either and they make good products, in my book anyway.I have a kubota tractor which I like and yes they had the wrong oil amounts also, not even close, beats me.

I'm with Junkman on that one - the specs and figures that Kubota publishes are just a tad sloppy. You can find info in some places and not in others - published specs say one thing in one place and something else in another, etc. The tractor is great but the literature leaves something to be desired. The other tractor manufacturers aren't really much better though, and in some cases are a lot worse.

I'm just curious as to why you wouldn't just get two of the PT-425s? If the PT minihoe has sufficient reach and depth, about 4 feet IIRC, two 425s would be far more versatile, and less expensive up front, than one 425 and one BX22. If you need more reach look at the PT-2425 for a full size backhoe. You'll be buying attachments for the 425 anyway, like the auger, so why not buy two machines and one set of attachments that can be shared between them?

If the Kubota goes into the shop what will you use for a BH or FEL in the meantime? With two PTs, one can be in the shop getting fixed while the other grabs the attachment of choice and keeps on chugging.

Agree about the mis-info in the Kubota manuals. Generally you can refute a spec just by reading further into it or reading another of their spec sources /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But it's not limited to Kubota. It's definitely a translation problem.

I have to consult manuals by Panasonic & NEC and theres many a passage that is not only misleading, but also just about the opposite from what they're trying to express!
Sometimes when one is not against the wall (i.e. trying to repair something), they can be quite entertaining to read /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
