just bought one last week and really love it. I was looking at the owners manual and read that when you replace the front axle oil you use Kubota Super UDT fluid or Sae 80 or Sae 90 gear oil. Looks like mine has the udt fluid in it. My question is udt fluid is very thin and gear oil is very thick do you think its a misprint.

bulky, this has been discussed at great length on the forum in the past two years. I don't guess it's a misprint, since the manuals for other models say the same thing, but it certainly is surprising when you consider the difference in the two oils. Since they all apparently come with UDT in them, I've decided to stay with that.

Just gone through the same thing with my B7001 grey. B7100 manual says SAE 80 but Shell Aust site says an SAE 40 Agri oil. Probably does not make much difference as the gears are not spinning very fast or under much pressure not like the hypoid gears in an automobile. Only use 4WD when you really need it. A little bit like having a second diff lock. As long as there is adequate oil in the diff and front end it should be OK.

Gear oil viscosity is based on a different scale than motor and hydraulic oils. SAE 80-90 is about 30-40 motor oil.
