BX2200 front axle

I realize this is over a year old, did you find out what was causing the vibration? I have a similar problem (driveshaft dropped out a few times) fixed that, now when in 4wd (and only in 4wd) there is a vibration that I can feel through the steering wheel, and sometimes in the whole tractor. Not really a bit shimmy, just a vibration.

Thanks!

Are you driving this unit on smooth ground at a speed where you can notice a shimmy in 4WD? If so, you are probably abusing the tractor. There is going to be a mismatch of the rotational speed of the tires from from to back. If you are on dry pavement this mismatch can only be compensated for by having the front end "jump" slightly or wear off the front tires. 4WD should only be used when you absolutely need 4WD.

Thanks for the quick reply repete. I've had the tractor for about 6 years now, in and out of 4wd without this vibration. The tractor is typically in 4wd when mowing rough surfaces or using the bucket. Tractor is rarely operated on pavement, but often will stay in 4wd when on gravel, but again, I have not felt this before. I almost seems like you can feel the gears interacting with each other. There is oil in the front axle. It's not really a jump-y feeling. Thanks!

Good, I was afraid it was running down the road in 4WD and you were destined for an expensive bill. :)

BTW, I always make sure my tires are FULLY inflated especially in 4WD and a load in the bucket to keep the rotational speed as close to the same for both axles as possible. I front tire that compresses an inch, effectively increases the rotational speed of the front end as compared to the rear.

The driveshaft yokes are out of phase. The yoke fixed to the shaft on each end should face the same. I dont know why Kubot didnt "key" that spline. ... Slide it apart and orient yokes and youll be OK.

Hi, I had the vibration coming through the steering wheel whilst in 4WD. I fixed the problem by tightening the pivot bolt which secures the front axle housing to the chassis. This procedure is listed in the kubota owners manual towards the back and specifies the actual torque setting. I'm away from home, so I'm unable to refer directly to my manual. I think the torque value was 68ftlbs but you should check. The vibration has gone. Hope this helps

The sequence of events suggests the ujoint yokes are out of phase. Kubot did not key the spline and the front drive can be put together with the yokes misaligned.

Book says that if the front axle pivot pin is worn or needs adjusted, it will cause vibration in the steering wheel.

Yes, but that is not the case here. kiltedpiper98 worked on his front driveshaft and the vibration in 4wd started right after that.

I think Spyderlk is right. I tried to line it up, but think I missed a notch or two. I cant find any markers to indicate how to line it up, and using my eyes to line it up didnt work to well, i still had some vibration.
