I think Spyderlk is right. I tried to line it up, but think I missed a notch or two. I cant find any markers to indicate how to line it up, and using my eyes to line it up didnt work to well, i still had some vibration.
Its tricky since one end is keyed with a pin and the other, with the sliding spline, isnt. Real easy to get confused and get it 90 degrees off -- worst case. U joints rely on correct phasing so the non constant velocity of the shaft cancels out.

My understanding (from the parts diagram) is to try to get the knuckles lined up and parallel. But its pretty easy to get that a few degrees off.
