First time this happened - I have a 2001 BX with around 350 hours. This is the first time with any problems. Filled up the fuel tank for the first time this spring and the diesel leaked out pretty fast (faster than a drip). Had to practice the old siphoning trick pretty darned quick (thankfully had some clear tubing on hand so no mouthful of diesel this time) but still have a nice mess on the garage floor to clean up (after I sweep up the Oil-dry).

Anyone know how I can contact the area Kubota office? I don't have high hopes with my dealer.

Otherwise happy with the tractor. Have a loader / tiller / auger / middle-buster / chisel plow / back blade and have used them all quite a bit. Not just a mower at all.

Do a search on this site under BX fuel tank leak....there have been posts in the past on this topic. You might call Kubota customer service for help since this is a safety issue.

it is covered under warranty. My dealer came to the house and fixed it for free

Here is the Kubota Service Bulletin for this problem.... According to the factory, this repair takes 2.1 hours and is only covered by the original 3 year tractor warranty. I have not hear of Kubota extending the warranty past this period for this repair from anyone on TBN that has had the problem. It is worth a try, but if they don't do it, at least you know what is involved before you order the kit to determine if you want to tackle this job yourself. There are full instructions in the service bulletin. If you decide to do it yourself, then the parts can be ordered from www.tractorsmart.com and shipped directly to your home using a credit card payment. Great people to do business with..... ask for Ronnie.... Tell him the Junkman sent you.... click here to read.......

Just hit 50 hours today and the same thing happened to me! I was doing some blading over uneven terrain (nothing too crazy) and I started to smell diesel. What causes this to happen? Is it a ground clearance thing?

I have no idea why they will start to leak after many months or years, but I am relatively certain that it has nothing to do with ground clearance. The unit at the top is the problem, and most likely, it is a result of the materials used that start to break down with age. It only is an affliction of the older BX tractors. The only fuel related problem that I know of since Kubota made the "fix" in a running production change, is the fuel gauge is still inaccurate. I can live with this quite easily, since I fuel the tractor when the gauge indicates 1/4 tank. It holds 5.5 US Gallons, so I doubt that I will run out when my unit only burns 1/2 gallon per hour.

The link to the service bulletin is not working for me. I get an error from Streamload saying download error and something about private content

My 22 had that issue. If you have to wait to get it fixed, keeping it under 1/2 tank should be ok.

It is a little seal that fails. Pain to get too.
