Modified BX 3PH

Jerry While this obviously increases the lift how will this geometry affect the lift capacity.
More leverage or less?
By the way, I love modifying things.

I like the ramp stops to prevent you from going over, but the grating looks a little light. Would you change anything if you built it again.

Re: Loading Ramp

Refer the ramp: so far, I have not had a problem with the capacity of the FEL as the payload on the BX is only rated at 460 lbs I believe. The ramp is 48 inches wide. Time will tell if I would do anything different. The expanded metal is welded to a steel 2 x 4 laying flat. I braced the sides to keep the frame from folding up under a load. I just used material that was in my scrap pile. Might have $5.00 worth of welding rods in the project. I,m just a self taught welder. Some of the men on this board are real welders and have forgotten more than I know about welding. It is just handy to have your own welding machine and cutting torch so you don't have to depend on someone else. On this project, I used a metal cut off saw instead of the torch. Refer the 3 point hitch: I got the idea from a thread on this board. It is my understanding some 3 point hitches come with two holes pre-drilled. My college degree was in Business so perhaps one of our engineer friends can advise about the lift capacity. My guess is that the lift capacity would be reduced slightly; however, the BX is so light on the front end, I doubt if you would notice the difference.

Re: Loading Ramp

Don't just love taking a pile of nothing and make it into some thing useful like a ramp.
I can't convince my wife that all that stuff in the garage will be useful some day.
So I'm putting up a detached 24X16 shop at the new property. Out oXf her site and out of my mind for squirreling away all of the things that are too good to throw out.

Interesting to see that the hole you drilled to increase the lift is further out (away from the tractor) on the lift arm. I had a problem with my B2410 lifting a rotary cutter high enough. Posted on here and was pointed to the manual (which I admit I had not reviewed for this issue /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif) and had the following quote stated:

There are two sets of holes in the lower links of the 3-pt hitch. The forward set will give you "higher lifting height (with reduced lifting force)", according to the manual.

This is indeed what the Kubota manual states. The thread is at Kubota Lift Height

Seem backwards???

Kevin: I could be wrong on this idea but it seems that the closer the lift arm is to the implement attached, the higher it would lift, given the angle. I haven't measured the lift distance but will do so at each hole the first chance I get. Perhaps someone else on the board can give more insight.

Jerry & Kevin, you are talking about two different tractors and could both be correct.
Jerry in your picture you can see that if you didn't move the raising arm, you would have to lower the lower 3ph arms to reconnect them in the original hole. There for the new holes farther out would raise the total clearance.
Kevin, Look at Jerry picture again. Lets call the original hole (the one not being used) "A" and the other "B".
I wondering if something go lost in the translation. Unless your machine is completely different wouldn't it be the same situation.

I agree...it should be the same situation. But the "formost" hole referred to would be hole A in your statement. I have not made the change on my tractor as I haven't had time...but my first thought was that the one "rearmost" should provide more lift, but my Kubota manual disagrees.

BX2200 My Second Disapointment!

PUt the snow blower on yesterday and now the Bota can't be loaded on the trailer. I knew I should have gotten a beavertail trailer.
With the blower on there is too much tractor attachment out front. The blower bottoms out on the ramps when the front tires are still 18 inches from the ramp.
Now what do I do? Any suggestions?

Re: BX2200 My Second Disapointment!

I tried that, the blower drags on the ground then.
