BX2200 Power Steering Problem??

I have a BX 2200 with about 225 hrs. The last few times I have mowed I have had a hard time controlling the tractor. The power steering effort is normal but I have to fight to keep the tractor going in a straight line. Sometimes it behaves normally, other times it requires a lot of tuning back and forth to keep the tractor on a straight course. (Lots of back and forth overcorrecting)

The hydro fluid is full, and the filter was recently changed. Do I have a control vavle problem?

Don't remember the exact cause of the problem, but it has been discussed here in the past. There is a defect in the steering that needs to be repaired by your dealer. Even if the tractor is out of warranty, push them for a warranty repair, since there was a manufacturing defect that causes this. I am certain that some of the other members that have already experience the problem will give you the details and remedy.

Was the problem on the BXs or was it on the B2710 / B2910?

There was anumber of BX's that had defective power steering pistons. I have a friend that just had his start acting up on his 2001 BX. The dealer is giving him the piston, but he has to pay for the labor.

I also had trouble with my steering cylinder, My BX is a 2001. Mine was leaking and i took it back to the dealer and they rebuilt it and when i got it back i couldnt steer it, they had cut a oring when they put it back together. They came and got it and fixed it.

Thanks guys. The problem is the piston in the steering cylinder, The dealer/Kubota is paying for the part(s) and labor, I just need to haul it there and back. Dealer said it was a hit and miss problem on 01' and some 02' BX 2200s. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
