BX2200 trade-in for BX22

Henro,
With the Cad digger back hoe there is no need to back exactly into position.
I just use the tractor to tow it close to where I want to dig, detach it from the tractor, start the gas motor and use the boom and bucket on the hoe and it moves itself around.
The tractor is no longer needed till I'm finished digging.

Wolbert,

That's interesting. Never thought about that...makes sense!

I traded my BX-2200 (and FEL) with 128 hours in on a BX-22 last fall. I kept my existing MMM. My net was about $8000 as the dealer I purchased from gave me $7500 for the trade. ("mint" condition) The dealer I originally bought my BX-2200 on was $1000 less on the trade and $1000 more on the new machine...fortunately, I have three Kubota dealers within 10 miles of my property.

BTW, I'm pleased with the upgrade. The new machine "seems" to have more power and the BH has been quite useful to date and will certainly pay it's way with certain projects on the list for 2003. It's not as useful as the FEL, but once you have it, you will use it.

There is some merit in some folks recommendation to look at some machines a little higher on the Kubota food chain, however. For not a lot of money more, you can get more effective power and ground clearance, if that is useful to you.

kyoders,
For what it's worth, I looked at BX2200 and BX22 prices today. At a local dealer, there was a $4600 difference between the BX22 (BH, FEL, 60"MMM) and the BX2200 (FEL, 60"MMM).

I'm guessing that the same $4600 difference would apply if both tractors were priced without the 60" mower.

So I would guess that going from a USED BX2200 to a NEW BX22 would be in the $6000 to $8000 range.

Something else the dealer told me today that might be useful to you. Apparently the BX22 uses the LA210 FEL while the BX2200 uses the LA211 FEL. Being the curious guy that I am, I asked about the differences between the two. Apparently the only difference is the mounting hardware; the parts that comes off when you "quick detach" the FEL are the same between the two FELs. Therefore, it may be possible to trade to the new BX22 with new FEL mounting hardware, yet keep the "scratched up" FEL that you already have.

Hope this helps,
Kelvin

There are some minor differences between the FEL models, although they are based on the same exact hardware. The BX-22 FEL has more quick disconnects on the hydro lines, presumably for using other front-mounted attachments and it also has the easy-pull pin on the top right side so you can leave the controls on the tractor while still removing the FEL. (The latest BX-2200 FEL may also have this...didn't look...but the BX-2200 I traded in didn't)

I actually asked about keeping my "scratched up" FEL and the dealer basically said, "no".

Man I wish you were closer, I might be convinced to take it off your hands.

Trading-in you often lose a lot.

Thanks for the replies. I was considering offering to keep the bucket on mine so that the dealer could use the new one for better resale. I guess swapping out the whole removeable portion would be even easier. He still hasn't come out to look at it, so I still have no idea what he might offer. I'm beginning to think I should try selling it on my own. I recently saw a BX1800 in the local trader paper asking 9500 with deck and bagging system. No specifics on which deck or bagging system.

My property is almost all hills, from gentle to >30 degree. One of the things that attracted me to the BX in the first place was being low to the ground. From what I read on TBN, it seemed that being lower to the ground helped with stability, which is most important for me. Is a B7500 or even B7800 any more or less stable on hills? I also don't want to get too large. Whatever I get has to be stored in the garage (silly covenants here, almost impossible to build an out-building even). Are the BH for the other B series all sub-frame mounted?

Jim,

The FEL valve stays with the tractor on the BX22? Does it come with the 4-position valve, or the 3-position that the BX2200 comes standard with? I swapped out the 3 for the 4-position, and I actually do like having it.

The FEL valve "can" stay on the machine as they made the top arm of the FEL with a quick-pull pin so you can leave the whole right FEL post on the tractor, including the controls, while removing the rest of the FEL . (I don't leave it on as I don't need it when the FEL is not on the machine)

I don't know if it's the four-way or not, but it may be--there are a lot more hose disconnects than my BX-2200 had!
