I bought a BX2230 this spring.

I need the following attachments:

Dethacher

Rear Blade

Rear Box blade

Rear light

What are the best to get to match that tractor?

I bought a BX23 a few months ago and the first attachment I bought was a Woods Estate series box blade. I have used it extensively and it works very well and I feel is sized right for the tractor. A couple of months ago I also bought a rear blade to do some grading. I had looked around quite a bit and decided that I wanted a blade that had offset, tilt and swivel. There were a number of blades I looked at but I liked the Midwest blades the best because the offset is simple - you just pull out a pin and move the blade and put the pins back in. All the others I looked at you had to unbolt the blade to offset it and then bolt it back in. Not very convienient. There were a number of postings on this site about how using this blade would not work with the limited lift capability on the BX 3pt hitch. I found a solution however that works very well. I bought some 3/8" thick 5x5" angle iron and made some extensions the lower the mounting points for the lower pins about 5-6 inches. Then I drilled a new hole in the upper mount to lower the upper link mounting point too. At the same time I did this I also got a Speeco quick hitch and adapted the box blade and the rear blade to work with the quick hitch. The Midwest rear blade I got was the RB22-60. With the extension on it I get more than enough lift on this blade and the 60" blade works great with the BX. Best of all I got in orange to match the BX by going to a Kioti dealer and buying it there - Midwest makes a bunch of the implements for Kioti - and Kioti has a lock on orange. If I remember correctly the Midwest blade was also the heaviest rear blade I could find in the 60" size - here is the Kioti version of the RB22-60 . With the modification to lower the mounting points I would highly recommend the RB22-60 on the BX - it works great.

Hey Jim, can you post a pic of your mod to the rear blade please?

THKS.

I took a bunch of pictures today - have to drop the camera off and get the film developed and then I can scan them in so it will be a few days. Someday I will have to get some of that new fangled digital camera technology. I was using the rear blade today and found one thing that is a bit of a problem with the extensions in place - I can't rotate the blade all the way around 180 degrees ( to push backwards instead of pull forwards) because the blade just hits the the extension. Looks like I could fix the problem by cutting approx 1/2" off of one end of the blade and it would work. I will have to think about whether I really want to do that.

Hi Ron - sorry it took me a while to get the pictures developed and scanned in but here they are - I don't have a shot of the blade on the tractor (that roll is still in the camera) but I have some close-ups of the mods I did to get the blade to work on the BX23. I have used it quite a bit and it works great. On a level surface I can get the blade probably about 20" off the ground. At first I thought that I was not going to be able to swivel the blade all the way around 180 degrees but then I realized I was having brain fade - with the blade in the fully lifted position I can swivel the blade all the way around by taking out the swivel pin and the angle pin and angling the blade as I turn it to clear the mounting extensions.

A shot of the top mounting frame modification. I have been using this rear blade on a Speeco quick hitch so I redrilled the top mounting hole and used a 3/4" bolt to mount a piece of pipe of the right diameter to fit in the top hook of the quick hitch. I had to grind out the recesses to clear the mounting bolts on the top hook of the quick hitch. Some Chevy Orange Engine paint cleaned the mods up nicely.
