Do you know for a fact that the fluid circulates? If so, they wouldn't be that different. If the fluid doesn't circulate, then you're depending on what's called thermal conductivity, and due to location, the in-line wouid be at a distinct disadvantage.

This is not an attempt to be argumentative, I just want to know. Does an in-line hose heater cause the coolant to circulate or not? To what extent? How do you know?
