BX2230 w/ Curtis sofside

Have a new BX2230 with the Curtis softside cab. Can not put fuel in with a five gallon can as you can't tip it up high enough. Tried using a long funnel, but can't see how full the tank is.

Has anyone had this problem? How did you fix it?

In places like hardware stores, that sell kerosene heaters, there are a variety of pumps to fill the heaters from portable fuel tanks.
My favorite is a small pump that operates on 1 or 2 "D" batteries with a small switch on the top. Place it into the fuel tank, insert the filler hose into the tractor tank and switch on. You should have plenty of room to see into the tank beside it.

You can also turn the key one notch to start the fuel gauge on the tractor and just leave it on as you fill.

Ah yes, the simple answer. I know exactly what you mean, used to have one for the kerosene heater. I was looking for the complex solution of how to tip the can higher and never thought of this.

I use a funnel with a bendy hose and it sticks out far enough to pour the can into. But you are right, you can't tell what the fuel level is so I try to buy a bit less fuel than I need in the tank to avoid those overflow problems. It's definately less than ideal. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Sounds like the pump may be a good solution, though!

If your solution is working for you, just turn your key one position before you begin to fuel and watch the tractor's fuel gauge.

Harbor Freight has a nice little hand pump that fits most yellow five gallon cans, it has a long hose with a nice litttle pump handle that works just fine with my cab. It's inexpensive too. It just replaces the cap on your tanks so no major work is invoved and its easy to use from can to can. chris.
