redesign of the loader pin.... Would be an easy "upgrade" to the earlier BX loaders if you were so inclined to do it.

Here is how they now mount the hydraulic loader control to the machine. I have studied this design and believe that it might be possible to incorporate the old loader control into a similar design change for the earlier BX models. I am still working on the possibility of making this modification.

This is what it looks like from the top side... You will note that the right loader tower is now the same as the left tower on the earlier BX machines. If you were to make this modification, I am not certain if the old tower might have to be reworked or the tower replaced with the thinner design as used on the newer BX's....

I can actually move my machine forward VERY slightly applying pressure to the pedal with me off the machine. I only have to do this when taking the bh on or off.

The machine will stop running if you get off the seat or move around enough and you are moving ahead at anything more than a crawl. You can get off in gear and it will run, as someone said, you have to be able to get the hoe off with the hydraulics.

Junkman,

I like the seat better, especially on the hoe side working. It does ride for longer periods more comfortably. I dont care for the loader stick and valves staying on the tractor, gets in the way of me getting my big butt on and off. I know it has to be there, and the one thing I do like is the lock, lock it and it makes a nice hand hold, or another OH @#$% handle.

As usual your advice on the installation and removal of the hoe was right on target, but I still think they could do away with the extra metal on the fenders and that little peice between the fenders, to make removal/installation less critical of heights.

I do not regret the 23 purchase at all.

I believe that the only reason that Kubota doesn't redesign the fender pans so the hoe removal and installation is less stressful knowing that you can damage the fender is the same fender pans fit all the BX series tractors. To make a separate stamping for just the BX22/23 would have been an extra expense that wasn't warranted. I have found that if you remove and reinstall on pavement, that it is more precise. I have also made a block of wood to put under the hoes main tower base so if the outriggers leak down, the hoe won't settle along with it. Makes for easier re-mounting.

( I was at the Kubota dealer last week and I was looking the BX23 over closely to see what changes there were between my late production BX22 and the new BX23. I did notice a switch on the seat where my BX22 has none. I don't know what functions the seat switch works with, but there is no question in my mind that it was designed to do something if you got off the seat. )

On the BX23 I can get off the seat with the engine running and the transmission in either HIGH or LOW. I can stand beside the BX23 and apply pressure to the Hydrostat foot lever and move the tractor...barely. If I apply more pressure in an attempt to make it move faster than a snail's crawl, then the machine will shut down. Again, I think this is by design so that the tractor can be maneuvered slightly to ease the backhoe installation & removal process.

I've noticed the fuse but don't know what it is for.

I had just made this comment to Junkman prior to reading your response. But with your response, I am now convinced that the ability to move the BX23 slightly from off the seat is by design.

When I got my BX23 the dealer demoed moving the tractor foward to get at the hoses to take off the BH. So from that I'm assuming that it was ment to be so by Kobuta. However I've been taking off the BH without moving the tractor, worried I might drag the BH with the hoses even though if I press the petal to far forward the engine will stall.
In the original post about his BX not starting, I can't recall anyone mentioning that the go petal has a grease fitting to keep it form sticking. Did I miss that?
