BX23 Question about the hydraulic lines to the backhoe

/ BX23 Question about the hydraulic lines to the backhoe #11
without the WSM, I cant tell you exactly what its going to do to your tractor when the pwrbyd hose not hooked up. it only takes a moment when not hooked up to BH. so why not do it for a piece of mind?

Does that mean that when the backhoe controls are in neutral that the hydraulic fluid passes straight through also ?

That is correct. Ever felt the hoses? They get warm right?

If you don't connect the hoses does that cut out fluid flow to other circuits ?

Sure does, and you can overheat the fluid, or worst damage the pump if continually operated like that.

Another thing you should do is connect the (I hope I got this right) in and out together on the backhoe. If the outriggers slump during storage, enough pressure will build in the hoses and against the connector port that it may be difficult to impossible to connect the hoses to the tractor. I needed mechanical help to open the port and was rewarded with a spray of hydraulic oil.

Radioman: I only wanted to know for diagnostic purposes. They are connected.
KenyD: Actually when I noticed they were quite hot I got worried.
Jabroni: that is what I did, but I also rocker the control leavers to let the backhoe go into a equalize pressure (with the engine stopped).

Now I know why the fan for the HSD is so important, the hydraulic fluid gets really hot.

I have a strap between the to outriggers so that they can't slump but I do also connect the hoses together. Keeps them clean too!

I just layed it out completely flat.

Of course that takes a lot of room, but as it was my first time I wanted to keep it simple.

It was also the first time that the backhoe had been demounted.
Original owner only used backhoe and loader and used it for road upkeep.
