BX23 Questions

I have been lifting 500 Lbs with my BX-22, and I have hooks on order from JC whitney that will be here in a couple of days that I will be adding onto the FEL.

As far as trailers, I bought a used one for $800. See attached photo.

This is not a bx-23, but it's a good photo of hooks on the FEL that someone else posted. Sorry I did not keep track of his name.

Congrats on the BX23. Here's a closer pic of the hook welded on. I only have 1 in the middle, which works fine for me, but many weld on 3. I have 91 hrs on my BX23 and am very happy with it.

All great responses, just what I am looking for, thank you. Do you think bolting the hooks on would work?

The lift capacity that Kubota specifies for the BX23 FEL is at full height. I can't remember if the number is 480 or 490 pounds but it would be with the FEL all the way up. If you don't have the FEL up at full height the lift capability goes way up. At about half height the FEL on the BX23 will lift about 650 pounds. I verified this by doing an experiment on my BX where I filled up the bucket with weightlifting weights. You can probably lift even more if all you want to do is get the bucket off the ground but I haven't run a test on that.

If you want to do it correctly, you should weld a piece of angle on the back side of the bucket and then weld the hooks to the top of the bucket. If my loader wasn't buried in 4 feet of snow, I would post a picture for you of how mine is done. If you aren't in a rush, send me a PM in a week or so and if the snow has melted, I will forward a picture back to you. I have one grab hook at each end and a slip hook in the middle.. Junk...

I tried lifting 9) 60 Lb bags of concrete out of the back of my pickup truck (540 Lbs) and my bx-22 could not lift them.
Took one bag out and it was fine. I would not consider that "full height" so I would not try to lift anything over 500 Lbs. Well you can try, but don't expect much. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

TSC = tractor supply, they're just about everywhere. Most any farm supply store should carry these parts.

The hooks are std chain hooks with a eye hole for mounting. I bolted the two outside hooks to the side flange of the bucket that extends up past the top lip. The middle hook is bolted to the top via a chain link clamp. It uses a U bolt to secure, in this case the hook eyelet, to the clamp frame & the bucket.

I could have gone more elaborate in this fabrication but I find this works out very well. I'll estimate I've lifted at least 300lbs on several occasions with this setup without any problems or worries.

I see many people weld on the hooks. My concern is that if a hook breaks, then it will be very difficult to replace if welded. I'm about to add them to my bx-22 so I'm wondering which to do myself.
Comments about them breaking?
