Greetings, as all BX owners know, probably the only shortcoming of the BX series (well, to me anyway) is the lack of a toolbox. I guess when Kubota set out to make the 1st ever subCUT, they wanted to squeeze as much into as small a space as possible. This is a good thing in most all respects except'n most of us need a small storage space for the various tools & gloves we need when operating our BX's.
Well, I found a well made, somewhat heavyduty and small tool box of just about the perfect size for my BX23. It's 11x4x4 and weighs a good couple/three or four lbs and has a full length lid hinge. I ordered it on Wed and got it on Sat., and it came red primed, ready for painting.
After peep'n around the BX23 for a space to mount it, I noticed several plastic plugs on the metal seat back frame and when I removed them I discovered the holes had press fit 8MM nuts behind them. There are at least 6 of 'em so I picked the set that would line up with the tolbox's backplate, marked and drilled some holes in the box, test mounted it and saw that it'll just clear all the obstacles and work pretty good. I was then faced my last decision, what color to paint it! Black would have made it blend in with the seat and I almost went that route but I then decided that I wanted to use up the last of my Chev engine orange spray paint and I wanted it to stand out a little too /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif so orange it be!
It'll hold my workgloves, some handtools, some implement clips and whatever other small stuff I may need once I get to working this little beast /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Heres a shot of the toolbox fresh out of the shipping box in it's red primed glory.
