BX23 $ value after 3 years / ROI

Hi,
I am sold on the fact that the BX23 is for me. The problem is $$. Do I invest $18,500 approx. for a new unit with the attachments I want or do I wait for one to come along second hand? Should I look for a Second hand BX22? What is a 3 year old BX22 worth? What exactly is the difference between the two? I have seen used 1 year old BX23's with 100 hours asking what I can buy new for!? Is there really substancial pricing differences in the fall? I am sorry for all the questions but I am completely confused. One more are any other manufactures besides MF going to make a BX23 knock off?

Depends on hours, condition, attachments etc? I have seen BX22’s in worse condition and more hours then mine asking $11,500 to over $14K..no mower either. For that price I would sell mine!

Define substantial since around here the prices are the same no matter what. Even with a few hundred off, in the big picture, I would not wait.

The interest on used usually eats up the savings over new, and you end up paying more for a used tractor with no warranty than you would for a new one with the warranty.

In my local paper there is a 3 year old BX23 like mine for sale for 13500.
This is only 2000 less than I paid for mine new.

Financing cost of both
NEW
15500 principal
0 Intrest
----------------------
total cost new 15500

Used
13500 principal
2500 interest
----------------
Total cost used 16000

Buy new for less and get a warranty on the tractor for doing it.

Only problem with your argument is that it means your used machine should actually sell for considerably less than 13K. That is the one down side of the current zero finance deals on new tractors. What happens if you need to sell? I'd say a fair price (based on your logic) for a three year old low hour out of warranty BX23 would be in the range of 11K to 12K which means your cost of ownership would be higher due to higher depreciation. You can't win (unless you keep the tractor or interest rates go up substantially /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)
