Ok, bought a block heater and when I got it, it was different than I or the dealer expected. For my 2200,. it was a threaded style, but for the BX2350, I have to remove a soft plug in front of the injector pump.

I don't have the special tool they make for this, so do I have to buy one or is there another way to remove it?

Open to suggestions and tips for the plug removal as well as installation of the heater....

I'll take pictures and post it as a project when I'm done....

Thanks in advance...

I put one in my L 2250 last fall. Do a search for "freeze plug removal" in the parts and repair forum. Lots of good tips and ideas in that thread.
By the way it made a big difference in how my tractor starts in real cold weather.
Good Luck

Taking a freeze plug out isn't hard. A well-trained chimp with tools could probably do it.

Unless your tractor has some kind of special plug the process is to take a screwdriver (or punch) and hammer and simply hit the plug off-center, near the edge. It will either turn in the block and you can grab it with pliers and pull it out, or the screwdriver will punch through and you can pry it out. Don't hit it in the center or you might drive it through into the water jacket.

Undoubtedly someone will chime in and say this is all wrong and a high-risk maneuver but all I can say is I've done a bunch of them this way. When I was young, I got a banana for every one done right.

When I put a heater in my 2230 the only style they had was one that went into the low pressure return line to the radiator. So I guess the engines in the 2350 have been improved maybe?

Being the low point of the fluid I still get good warming to the fluid after an hour. Around 80-100 degrees on a zero degree day. It's worth the money.

Well, the engines are the same for either the 2230 or the 2350, so I'm guessing they finally came out with a proper heater or your dealer couldn't find the part number. In fact, the install sheet they included with the heater specifically lists the BX1500 and BX2230 (part #70000-00771). It's everything else they changed...not the engine. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thanks, sounds like I might be able to handle it. The sheet it came with said to put on some loctite on it to seal it to the engine. Is this good advice? What type of loctite? Red or blue or ??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

And I wonder if I'll get that banana.....
